For your information, the decision as to whether Nana Akufo-Addo should contest for the Presidecny in 2016 or not, is not for God to say, yes or no. It is purely a matter for Nana Akufo-Addo first and foremost and between him and NPP second. First, he must decide if he wants to put himself forward for the NPP flagbearership contest and then NPP leadership will decide whether he meets the criteria. Then finally, NPP members will decide his fate if he is one of the candidates.
Where does God feature in here or is it in NPP's constitution that God should say yes or no?
However, I share your concerns that politicians in developing countries do not know when to say they have had enough until they become President. Even that some like Mugabe, try to rule for life. Because the late Attah Mills won on his third attempt, people will use that to justify a third attempt for others. If Nana Akufo-Addo thinks his health is good enough to go for a third attempt and his party will give him the chance, why not?
I also share your concerns over NPP wasting time over this matter instead of learning lessons from their defeat in 2012, the potential consequences of a third defeat and making NDC de facto one party rule. That will be unhealthy for democracy and development in Ghana.

Sadly under Nana the seats have gone down. We have lost 4 regions. The percentage of presidential votes also keeps going down
If the NPP chooses Nana it will lose Eastern Region and it will lose even more parliamentary seats

Nana mistrusts Kuffuor, Mahama mistrusts all of them and Kuffour mistrusts Nana. They are papering up these divisions but Sendero anybody foist on us by the Kuffuor camp, would not be marketable, because half of the party that supports Nana would not endorse him or her. Likewise anybody (Bawumia)foisted on the party by Nana would not enjoy the support of the Kuffour camp. There are no good choices, so at least let Kuffour and Nana pretend all is well post 2016 after we have lost, then the real battle for the soul of the party would then take place. Let us not split the party up like Paa Willie and Victor Owusu did. Let us unite under the one who has the best idea. Nana believes it is his turn. That is nonsense, but for the sake of a culture of entitlement which would end the day Kuffour and Nana die, then nobody could tell us I founded this party so it is my turn. In retrospect we are left with these old school politicians in their final threos of retiring.

No one should stop Akufo-Addo from seeking a third time flagbearership of the NPP. But there should not be any attempt to stop other potential candidates from contesting for that role in the NPP, either. There should not be any door-closing on others who want to contest for that leadership, too. Nana should not be imposed upon the Party.
I personally believe he could well win in 2016 but only when Mahama does poorly during the rest of his term. However, for the sake of NPP's future attractiveness to the electorate and the Nation's coherence and rapid growth, he should gracefully step aside with dignity to allow others to take up the mantle.
The Presidency is no one's family inheritance to let Nana's close supporters feel he is entitled to it. He should give others the chance to lead. The Country under his opposition leadership has seen deeper divisiveness, with the rise of inter-Tribal disrespect and threats against one another. He does not seem to get it that his actions and inactions and utterances by him and some of his lieutenants have deepened fears among fellow citizens, especially minority groups, on his commitment to united Nationhood.
He waited too long to admonish his lieutenants to refrain from fanning the embers from the SC verdict. It was one thing accepting the verdict, which many of us appreciated. But it is another thing when he remained silent in the face of rising criticism of the SC and threats to suppress other members of the Party by those lieutenants.
I did not hear him comment on the case of death threats to the Greater Accra NPP Chairman by some hooligans in the Party who the potential victim claimed are associated with very HIGH-UPs in the Party. If Nana should not be expected to comment on all things others say, it is such allegations as this that he should make an exception to come out and denounce so that all would know he cares for their lives and well-being of the Party.
The Party will survive. But if the current in-fighting and death threats become a common occurrence, it would deter new members away and suppress real democracy in the Party. Nana should show more active leadership within the Party in order to win the rest of the Nation to his side as a good leader the Country can rely upon. If he fails to rein in the loose cannons, he would lose the Party and all chances for the Presidency for good.

After all, the party will have to elect him at congress where he will pitch his strength against other protective aspirants. The truth of the matter is that most of the politicians are corrupt and have enriched themselves with state monies. IF Nana becomes president, 'they" know too many heads will roll. This fear is more predominant in the PNDC-NDC faction. I dare you to expose any act of corruption or embezzlement of state funds by Nana since the days of Kutu Acheampong.
