Omari quotes in the "Kwame Nkrumah, the anatomy of African Politics" that Nkrumah did regret the death of Dankwa in prison but the latter's intransigence and callous attempts to undo Kwame Nkrumah at all cost, contributed to his detention and subsequent death in prison. Nkrumah made several moves to reconcile himself, Dankwa and Busia but the trio rebuffed Nkrumah, to the extent that they called him names like the NPP is doing today.
Now, from this article and extensive quotes from Ako Adjie, it looks to me that Busia was more opportunist than any of them. He never contributed anything to the formation of Ghana but rather took calculated steps to undermine this country. It seems to me that the so-called Dankwa-Busia stuff is an attempt to take undue credit where credit is not due them and therefore they must be rejected, denounce and renounced.

The Convention People’s Party is outraged by the lack of political will to ensure that the exploitation of our mineral resources benefits the citizens of Ghana, and the failure to protect our environment and our heritage for sustainable development not only in the Ellembelle District of the Nzema area but also throughout the country. The current tension between community groups and a mining firm called Adamus Resources is something the Party views as an attack on our heritage.
Nkroful, the birth place of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s Founder and First President is part of our national heritage and government has the responsibility to protect and preserve the historical heritage of Nkroful and the Nzema people.
The CPP position is that under no circumstance should Nkroful be obliterated in a private quest to exploit the mineral resources of the area. It is the party’s view that with the right investment and the tourism potential of the area, the nation and the local people will benefit far more than mining with its negative impact on the environment and our heritage can deliver.
We wish to indicate an unflinching support to community dwellers in Teleku Bokazo and Nkroful, the youth group – ‘Youth and Concern’, who have demonstrated their unwavering fight against the attempt by Adamus Resources to virtually obliterate Nkoful.
Despite the claims about resettlement and monetary compensation by Adamus to some members of the two close communities, the Party strongly opposes attempts at ignoring the development of the human and material capacity of the state to own and manage the mineral resources in the Nzema area for the full benefit of the Ghanaian people.
The Party wishes to publicly bring to the attention of the Government that Article (2) and (4)of the Minerals & Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703) must necessarily be invoked immediately for the state to compulsory acquire all of Nkroful Land as a first step towards designating Nkroful as a national heritage site.
The CPP wishes to draw the attention of Government and state institutions to Adamus’ threat to our heritage and pleads that Government reconsiders operational expansion of Adamus Resources as it will lead to the destruction of the historical town of Nkroful.
The unrest between the community in Nkroful and Adamus Resources highlights the crucial challenge we face as a nation in controlling and managing our natural resources for the benefit of our communities.

So it was not Danquah/Dombo/Busia after all. How can we the young trust these selfish, irresponsible, liars and tricksters , who are always claiming to be significant whilst really, they are not!!. I always ssy this from my observation that the Ahantas, Akwapems, Bonos, Kwahus and the Fantes though akans are not boastful, arrogant or dubious. They are descent people unlike some of their cousins Asantes and Akyems. Perhaps, Nii Ayikoi Otoo and his Ga brother, Prof. Michael Oquaye, both who even don't know who the Ga Mantse is could tell us why Paa Grant the founder and financier of UGCC was not accorded as the founder. Lies, fabrications, innuendos, violence, tribalism, lawlessness, indiscipline, thievery and arrogance has always being the signature of NLM/UP/PP/PFP/NPP. Shame, shame, shame unto illiterates like Prof. Oquaye(papa Ajsco) and Ayikoi Otoo. You have lost your credibility big time.

Good job. I always had the impression that the history of the preindependence and immediate post- independence period had been so far written and viewed in a very biased way, depending on whether one viewed it from the Western( especially CIA ), the CPP, or the UGCC perspective.
This is really the first time I've heard our history viewed critically in an unbiased way and I believe time will really enable us view our history through much clearer lenses.
It almost hurt that Paa Grant who clearly founded and funded the party.
Did some of the animosity towards Nkrumah get transferred to Paa Grant because both came from the same area of the country or because he seemed to have made peace with Nkrumah before his death?
Could the writer shed a bit more light on how Paa Grant was viewed in the party prior to and after his death?
Thanks.

There are some who since the days of Okomfo Anokye, from Anokyi in the Ellembele district formerly Nzema East, seem to have originated nothing, though are skillful appropriators and adapters of other peoples efforts. Paa Grant, an Nzema, on his sick bed had a dwindling belief in J. B. Dankwa therefore confided in Nkrumah not to hold back but to see the struggle through yet the abortifacient matemehu will have us believe it was they who held the reins even while Paa Grant was the founder and major financier of the by then languid UGCC without the Great One. Nkrumah after being recommended by Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, it was Paa Grant who paid Nkrumah's £100 boat fare to return to Ghana from Liverpool. Below is a chant of Danquah's animosity toward Nkrumah.
