we need to educate our Politicians to have a long term Development Program by which every block of leadership need to work on. Why don't we impose death penalty for corruption as in China? We could confiscate three times what is stolen and ban the person from Public office to spare his or her life.

A maximum of two five year terms is a better option.I agree that sometimes projects can take time to germinate and implement.

You are absolutely correct but we must remember that nation building hinges on two things; TRUTH AND THE RULE OF LAW.
Any nation that entertains dishonesty will never see progress. Also, a nation that fronts on the rule of law, is always mired in vices that stagnates her progress or development.
When Obama came to Ghana, what was his message to our leaders? He said, we do not need strong men but strong institutions and that is the core message. Strong institution hinges on uncompromising rule of law. Simply put, NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW which clearly stated in the United States constitution. What about ours?
We can give our elected officials whatever numbers of years but as long as they are dishonest and disrespect the rule of law, we will be debating and coming out with whatever, but at the end of the day, the status quo will reign.
How many of our politicians have ever declared their assets upon assuming office? They always blow that trumpet but sweep its implementation aside because they fear to tell the truth and have the mindset or mentality that they cannot be punished.
Corruption is part of humanity but the only thing can minimized that rot is TRUTH AND THE RULE OF LAW. How can an honest person be corrupt?
From our first president right down to the current one, all of them have been side stepping the basic tenet of democracy. They do not advocate for strict implementation of TRUTH AND THE RULE OF LAW and that is the main reason why we are marking time at the same spot.

It makes me sad to see all of the corruption in Ghana. I agree that the current levels of corruption must be stopped. One way is to move away from an all cash society. Also, not US dollars should be used in Ghana to do business. The government offices are extremely inefficient. Government jobs should go to qualified staff, not family or tribal members.

Thanx Mr. writer, well said. I agree with you 1000%. As long as our leaders in parliament will not pass such laws which ensures that any party that comes into power must continue parliament approved projects under the previous gov't then we are doomed. It's sad that what you just said is not on paper or a law in Ghana. Shame to our politicians and shame to all of our people who use their stomachs to thinks every issue in Ghana is political.
