Thatcher is not the only scientist to have held a position, political or otherwise. Angela Merkel is also a career scientist and also an academic before she joined the higher echelons of German politics

President Mills should have created "Founders and not Founder's Day. As you said, we should not speak ill of the dead, but I think his administration erred and Founders Day could have been created to include, not only Dankwa and Nkrumah, but also all those you mentioned in your article - Paa Grant, Atu Ahuma, Sgt Adjetey and his friends, Nii Kwabena Bonney, Aggrey etc. Things like this will unite the country.
After all, Nkrumah was for the unity of Ghana and Africa. That's why he did not allow parts of Volta Region to go Togo; the Northern Territories to join Burkina Faso and the Ashantis to secede. He worked hard to maintain the current map of Ghana.

Trust me, they will not read. Ghanaians hate the truth and wisdom. I have been shouting this Aborigine's Right Protection Society set up in 1897 to fight the Crown Bill and the Land Bill and I had only a single response. Can you sent your article to peace fm, Joyfm and let the wise discern the wisdom in it.
In fact, the Berlin Conference of 1884 truly recognized the Gold Coast as a British colony and not the Bond of 1844. The Fante chiefs signed Treatises of Alliances and not a Treaty to surrender their ancestral lands.
The Berlin Scramble and Partition of Africa gave the Brits the impetus to embark on usurping the powers of our kings and people and this led to the beginning of the struggle to break from the colonialist.

Mzee Agyeman,
I might have confused the name, but there is a joint University of Trondheim-University of Nairobi Scientific Observatory carved into the body of this mouuntain. From there, we spent the night at the city of Nakuru. Our Group was based at the Training Institute of the Kenyan Commerciall Bank, located at Keren, on the outskerts of Nairobi, from where we travelled by bus all over Kenya.
Our Chief Guide was Prof Nyambok of the University of Nairobi. He might still be alive because he was relativley young at the time. I still have photographs of the tombstones back in Ghana. Asante sana!

Well spoken. This should be a must- read article for the reeducation of our corrupt, selfish, inane, good-for-nothing political leaders - Mahama, Akufo-Addo and Jerry Rawlings all included.

Is the name of the columnist Kobina or Kobena as his reply name indicate.I thought the two were different for a reason but never mind.I like the article though, although I would have preferred some elaborations on some of the personalities. For example Nkrumah and Danquah and Rawlings,a compare and contrast analysis would have sounded interesting.
When beggars die there are no comets seen but the heavens themselves blase forth the death of princes said Shakespeare. They have lead wonderful and good lives as well so lets leave the dead to bury the dead.
