The Ashante UP Kingpins could not stand Busia. They orchestrated the coup that toppled Busia. The plan was for Col Acheampong to hand over after a year to Victor but Col Acheampong was no ones fool. He reneged and instead made the Bank of Ghana the Bank of Asanteman to appease the UP mafias, from the Asantehene Otumfuo Opoku Ware to DKC. He began having problems with them when the Bank became empty and the dollars stopped flowing!!!!

What do you know about standing your ground? It was Krobo Edusei, who started hunting down those sycophants, for trying to undermine an independent enterprise whose forethought, they the Matemehus' had felt was premature at birth, therefore were doing their best to reconstitute. Whether you like it or not, Nkrumah was the one being shot at, stabbed, and maligned every step of the way. Please remove your tribal lens for once and think like a normal sentient being, you are permitted. Why were our own country men so mad to the extent that they will resort to terrorism assuming their only goal was democracy? At least Danquah before committing to the CIA bribes to turn berserk, sued Nkrumah's evening news paper successfully for libel and won. Why did the disgruntled overly self indulgent subverts not use the courts or fight fair in the political arena. Hell no! the neocolonialists ambuscade, already highly groomed by their customers had to throw away the baby along with the water. You may hate his guts for his brilliance, charisma and selflessness. But like Ghandi, he is worldly noted for his civil disobedience and not violence. He was even the one the traitors, the asante/akyem incidental plump had felt expendable therefore went to jail. Mind you, Nkrumah was trained as a priest, a Freemason of the highest degree, and even taught at the seminary, also being an Nzema he was brought up in the Merkeva Arch angelic spiritual Tradition(N'ankerba) from where Okomfo Anokye emerged from the left, now you know! goodness me. Nkrumah's motto was God and country my friend! Beside Danquah who was arrested for treason, which opponent did Nkrumah incinerate? May Beelzebub, track you down for the rest of your life for slandering a good man, whose only crime was the indubitable love for his race and country. Was it not J.B. Danquah who told good Ghanaians "Nkrumah would never let us down"
believe me he never did. Danquah was about to be released when again the disgruntled malfeasance, nefariously sprung their tribal factors to provoke the asthma that killed him.

You are very repugnant indeed. You people are trying hard to rehabilitate and paint Nkrumah as an angel when indeed he was Belzebub reincarnate . Nkrumah was a KGB agent who was helping the communist establish their brand of governance on the African continent and this incurred the displeasure of the West which fought back. That was the period of the cold war. I was a member of his Young Pioneers and we were taught to worship him like a god just as the North Koreans worship thier leader and would use every means to eliminate any body with dissenting views. How come he never had a vice president ? Our woes as a nation started under his watch because (1)surrounded himself with " veranda " boys who were nothing but gaping illiterate sycophants with whom they run down the country from viability to insolvency. Basic needs were in short supply.(2) As a zealouse apostle of the KGB ,he dished out our resources like a drunken sailor to any African country that would embrace communism to the extent that Ghana became bankrupt . Like any dictatator, he was brutal to any dissent. As a human being he had his strength and weakness ,but do not paint him as a saint . He was a despot ,period.

So to caption the title of the article as "HOW BUSIA DAMAGED NKRUMAH & GHANA IN U.S.A" would have defeated the aims of Mr Clark's views and political alignment.

We condemn your ability to take history out of context, to twist history to suit your fantastic allegations.
Akufo-Addo and the NPP are crying foul because they feel robbed of their victory. They claim that they have evidence. Objective people all over the world have reasons to believe that there were premeditated voting frauds, though what is not yet clear is to what extent and whether they were huge enough to affect the results. Shallow-minded like you refuse to remain neutral, embark on an ominous task of smearing those they hate.
If you are honest and neutral, why did you forget to mention the fact that to a greater extent, the same people you are scandalising were the unrivaled architects of Ghana's independence and in fact those of most African countries?
Stabbing people at their back for want of power is a great betrayal that Ghanaians must not accept. But the ongoing complaint before the SC cannot be likened to what you are ascribing to.
We are not surprised, such is the substance some are made of - NEVER SEEING THE GOOD ONE DOES, ALWAYS SEEING ONLY HIS BAD SIDE AND PAINTING HIM/HER THAT WAY.
We must learn to hold in esteem the good contributions of others whilst taking note of their mistakes to ensure not repeat same.
We must also learn to be neutral in judging those who have the courage to challenge what they perceive as wrong deeds, and encourage their efforts irrespective of whether we agree with them or not; else we would be like zombie.

Although Edward's article has a lot of historical lessons in it, it painted a picture of highly disorganised and aimless politicians who wanted to occupy power for power or politics sake.
It portrayed the NLC and UP regimes as aimless and visionless for Ghana. They just played into the hands of the political ideologies (the East vs West ideologies) at the time.
The issue if the CPP, THE NLC, UP, and earlier political leaders did not set good standards of politics or political life in Ghana, and we the current generation have realised that, hence is it good to continue that tradition?
We have to implement good standards of public life and standards (accountability systems) to avoid the issues of the 2012 Election fiasco and to deal with those who sabotage the nation's interest like the blatant displays of incompetence and collusion of "Dr" Afari Dyan. He failed to serve the interest of Ghana and his actions have damaged generations to come.

Remember, Nkrumah was overthrown in 1966 - more than 40 years ago. Many young Ghanaians do not know who he was and what he was about, thanks to the "de-nkrumahization" campaign that has been conducted to this day by anti-
Nkrumahist forces. Do you know Nkrumah's books and all Pan-Africanist writings plus CPP documents were publicly burned as well as banned? Do you know that some highly-placed academics participated and enforced this policy on their campuses? The truth must be told!

I applaud this article for its elucidation and putting developments in their proper historical context. I, however, believe, notwithstanding, that the NDC is no better alternative to the political entities established by the NLC. The NDC is no way comparable to the CPP, as the author would like us to infer. Also, the NDC cannot be the natural successor to the CPP because the former does not subscribe fully to the ideological underpinnings of the latter. Other than that, I enjoyed reading the article.

Even Nana Ato Dadzie praised Nana Addo for going to the court. Someone who is really hungry for power will never acted the way Nana did but here we are as some pigs are trying to see his action as a blow to a serene atmosphere.
Right now, Ghana is in a hole. Why? Nkrumah and those who came after him are gone. They will never come back to see or supervise whatever we are doing and it is up to us to use our brains to make life better for the ordinary Ghanaian.
Our roads have crumbled. Hospitals are without medicine. Workers have not been paid for some years. Taxes have skyrocketed and the current government have borrowed $30billion with nothing to show for and this writer is here recycling old and dead news as something he is best at.
Ghana under Kuffour was better than the entire years JJ sat on our neck. You can paint NPP as to what color you deem fit but at the end of the day, they are better in handling the national resources than NDC. What should not exit your mind is CPP is dead and will never resurrect. The only person who has some hope for that party was Paa Kwesi Nduom but he was chased like a thief who had entered the wrong house.
You can write whatever nonsense about UP/NPP or whatever but at the end of the day, they are better than whatever party you have in mind.

Nana & Co. have no option than to go to court as they were told by Afari Gyan. The option of taking up arms doesn't exist at all! They'd be crushed in no time, as the Police and the Army were rather partial to the NDC. Besides, the NDC also have many supporters who can face toe to toe any civilian rabbles with arms the NPP can forage out even in its stronghold of the Ash/R and E/R. So don't delude yourselves that the NPP can take up arms and win power! Their poor supporters will be slaughtered for no good reason while their leaders run into exile! Of course, the fake refugee biz from Ghana will boom again! Not a bad thing in itself, as it affords the chance for many dog chain and obroni waawu sellers to be absorbed into the work force in the West and remit more money home so Ghana wins in the long run! BTW, I am NOT hoping that such a thing happens though.
Btw, writing, reviewing and evaluating history is a legitimate subject with many benefits to society, so despite pressing current issues, those who want to do so are entitled to do so. You are also entitled to write your own articles on current issues.

As for the overthrow of Ghaddafi, the credit goes to the whole of NATo forces, nit that rag tag army of rebels. Ghaddafi would have made mincemeat of them just like on previous occasions had those intense bombings of his troops, arms depots tanks, etc. not destroyed and disorganised his army. Are you guys also counting on NATO support and bombing of Ghana into the stone age?
Since you are ignorant of the facts, the "Ayigbes", so referred, are descendants of Ga fugitives in Eweland, from Ghana to Togo, who refused to return to Accra with the stool regalia they took with them to Glidzi, then Anexo in Togo after the thorns in their flesh the Akwamus were whupped with the help of the Akyems in 1730. That's how the dzulor bit started, not cos anybody was stealing fowls and cats.

Two points: The NLCD 380 Constituent Assembly Amendment Decree, was conducted under the guns of the NLC and can in no way be presented as having any kind of democratic credibility. Those who the NLC did not consent their participation could not be a part of the appointed assembly; particularly those who had CPP affiliation and supported Pan Africanism and socialism.
Busia did not have any power over the NLC. You are leaving out the fact that the Political Committee had were under the control of the NLC guns and was being paid by the NLC. Also the fact that Afrifa and Harley converted to the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Commission under the 1969 Constitution, having the powers to decide the functions of the President and controlling the cabinet office through their secretary.
Your article is hard on the UP tradition but soft on the NLC. The deception in the article is clearly to repress the NPP by highlighting the lawyers and professional faction of the indigenous bourgeoisie and their relation to the NLC and promote the NDC through concealing the relationship of the PNDC/NDC tradition to the NLC based on the officers faction of the indigenous bourgeoisie.
The officers class thinking in the article is guiding the article towards softness on the NLC counter-revolutionaries to hide their modern successors.

Edward you are right on point.......
It's a shame how these lot never see the good in anyone, let alone Osagyefo.
However, with these Danquah-Busia, NPP and NDC (sheep in wolves clothing)lot present in Ghana, our dear nation will NEVER EVER achieve the heights Osagyefo steered us, to before his overthrow.
The Danquah's and the UP lot, thought they were asking a 'puppet' to come down to the Gold Coast at the time of fighting independence, to be used and do their dirty work for their own selfish interests....................
As we all know, Nkrumah was no one's puppet and did not take fools gladly.
He had his own vision which the UP, the UGCC and their cronies were very much aware of; in their student years in the UK and the US. Nkrumah was a firebrand of true African politics. (Please go research these facts).
He, Osagyefo on joining these lot, could not stand their pussy-footing, hypocrisy, lies and betrayal, so he took over the realms of affairs move quickly to gain independence for GHANA!
That is what annoyed them then - leading to the bomb-throwings etc. and also, doing everything possible with their 'masters' to destabilize and derail all the good works of Osagyefo, for Ghana. If it is not by them or about them, or for them, then no one else matters.................
Nkrumah rightly dealt with all the terrorists and detractors accordingly.
They were lucky they were not in this
era.....they would have had bombs dropped on them.
Unfortunately, their children have the same traits and traditions in them, as we can all witness in this present day Ghana. They are of the belief that the formation of the Danquah Institute would serve as a platform from which they can continually 'De-Nkrumanize Ghana'.
On the otherhand, the NDC traitors think that, by shouting and hiding behind the name of Nkrumah will help them and protect them from their inefficient running of our nation.
Nkrumah was all about positive deeds!
And only people of good heart and are of integrity would understand his vision for our nation.
The UP/NPP traitors of our country devised and are still devising their own ways of making political gains out of Nkrumah's policies he left behind. (I will leave that for another day).
The vision and achievements of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and I.K. Acheampong is second to none. I am therefore, not surprised they tried to use Kutu Acheampong for their own personal and selfish gains.
I am afraid that, it has and will forever remain tobe the strategy of
the UGCC, UP, PPP AND NPP lot.
GOD BLESS GHANA!
AFRICAN FOREVER!

Do you really believe this selective crap that you have concocted here? How could Busia possibly go to Kotoka and Afrifa and ask them to hand over power to him on a silver platter? You don't believe that both Afrifa and Kotoka had leadership designs of thier own? How about Ankrah and Arthur Nzeribe?
Politicians, academics and even Misisters of the Church of Christ, were tainted by CPP coruption of the early 1960s. (Do you remember Rev Father Lemaire, the Bishop of Accra? You remember why Kwmae Nkrumah sacked him?) In that situation and follwing the extent corruption and fitlh in Ghanaian society that were unearthed by the Commissions of Enquiry, who else could the NLC depend on?
Has it occured to you why the CPP, apart from the one occasion in 1979 when the UP Group broke into two, has never won an election in Ghana since 1969? Whatever happened to The Great Nkrumah Legacy, if his followers can not win elections in Ghana?
What is wrong with someone having an ambition to lead a country? Bill Clinton won a youth Prize at age 18 and shook hands with Jack Kennedy and swore to work towards the American Presidency. Was that wrong? Cameron and Hague were both spotted by Mrs Thatcher and predicted to be leaders of the Conservative Party. Anything wrong with that ambition?
From Akyeampong, through his relation FWK Akuffo to Rawlings, Nana Addo has spent more resources and risk of his own life to fight dictatorship than any individual in Ghana. What is wrong with him figthing legitimately to be President of Ghana?
Each of Ghana's past leaders, including the crooked 'coupists' all contributed their quota to the history of Ghana. Let us try to be fair and objective when we write about them!

Even when the cpp was a proscribed party they managed to win elections under the guise of pnp.The ndc is by and large supporters of the cpp who are trying to keep the UP tradition at bay because they are traitors and can not be trusted.Unanimously Ghanaians have voted the cpp tradition to power more than the combined effort of the UP tradition.More importantly not only had Nkrumaism become the new ideology of progressive Africans and intellectuals of African descent all over the world but they believe that his ideas are the only answer to the African problem.
Reactionary stooges like Kobena and his matemehu brigade who are apologists to western interest and continue to oppose anything Nkrumah contrary to popular opinion of the man.
If the privileged background of Hague and Cameron which gave them education in Eaton and Oxford but never had the experience of the world is what Kobena is proposing then he must be living in a cloud cuckold land.Ghana is not Uk and our experience is different from theirs.
It is surprising how some of you in the Danquah,Busiah camp appreciates everything western. You see them as always right and worth emulating. This is the problem facing Ghana. You still wish we were saying yes sir to them whilst they rule us and take all our treasures away. These zealot drive is what had closed your mind to all sort of reason and therefore warped your objectivity.

If Nkrumaism is really the solution to Africa's problems, why are African countries not falling over each other to practise it? Nyerere's Ujamaa was the closest that came to it, but it was thrown out like hot coal, as soon as the Tanzanians had the opportunity. Why is that?
What warped thinking! Do you really believe that the PNP would have won the 1979 election if Paa Willie and Victor Owusus hadn't gone their separate ways? You have a challenege with arithmetic!
Everything Western? I guess you do not wear any western clothes then? The last time I checked all the "Afro Moses" socialists of the 1970s were in partnerships with western companies fleecing Ghana dry. At least I have invested in Ghana and been paying taxes that are being fritted away into western banks by our socialist nationalist friends. An't that something?

This stubborn adherence to western values must have strayed your mind from thinking African and hence a pride in the African.
Go to Ethiopia the head quarters of the AU and you will find a giant statue of the Osagyefo gracing the front entrance. The rest of Africa had set a day in the year to commemorate his achievements and his name is the one single inspiration on the continent.
As an apologist of western interest you will not appreciate and understand the colossal figure of the man.Any attempt to denigrate him by your likes will fail because the Heroes of the UP tradition are just like pygmies before him.
If you were in the French territories, you would have avail yourself of their policy of assimilation where blacks become white by privilege.Think how to better ourselves through African solutions and not through your darling whites who discriminate against you anyway. You are a puppet and a ventriloquist dummy of the west.

Sir, I have read your previous article and today's and am sorry to says that it might be better to think and try to find solutions to Ghana's present economic and social problems rather than wasting our time on Nkrumah, Danquah, Busia and others who have had their days. Talking about corruption, I am afraid, almost all our former leaders, including Nkrumah especially, have been corrupt. Please, spare Ghanaians articles which don't solve our problems of today.

I want Mr. Clark to understand that as an eligible citizen with authentic claim to kingship/chiefship in at least four towns, including Nsawam-Adoagyiri. So really, Mr. Clark cannot be more Ghanaian than his target of death threat.

You see, not that Nkrumah did not do anything at all. Omari basically reported and analyzed the other side of the coin. If you talk about his achievements you must also talk about his bad sides. The one-party state though had parliamentary approval was wrong. Politics of exclusiveness, 'nepotism', enmity, electoral fraud, fear, culture of silence, all started under Nkrumah. To the extent his own people notably, Ako- Adjei, Adamafio, Gbedemah, and others rose up against him. If he had started multi-party democracy we would have been somewhere now......we dont have enough space to debate here.

I personally challenged and stopped Prof. Mawxell Owusu from continuing to use that book as if it were a literature text book in our 1977-80 class of Pol. Science students at Legon. I remember very clearly how even the late Dr Francis Appiah, grandson of the NLM mojo, Baffour Osei Akoto, came to congratulate me after the class for mounting the challenge that disrupted the lectures, as others joined in, wanting to know if we were supposed to analyse the book to see whether Nkrumah was a dictator or not. Or learn by heart that he was a dictator cos Peter Omari said so? If he was a dictator, what did he ever dictate, to whom, when without going through due process under the Const?
Some dictator who even had a Referendum to allow Ghanaians to determine whether Ghana should become a one party state or not! As put by Fitch and Oppenheimer, their examinations of the Parliamentary hansards didn't show any sign of a country under a dictatorship. Even Gbedema went to Parliament to denounce Nkrumah before leaving to go into exile without anyone stopping him!

It must be made clear that among the many international collaborators of the mercenary-traitors was West Germany (officially, the Federal Republic Of Germany). Busia's pre-election campaigning outfit, The Centre For Civic Education was heavily funded by the W.German government through the Friederich Ebert Foundation. It was an early example of the use of foreign, so-called NGO's to subvert and promote the neo-colonialist agenda in Africa and elsewhere.
