This`s very sad.Of all the places in the capital without any names,why should this particular road with its significance,history and memory of those heroes be replaced?
Can`t they find any other place to be given president Mills`s name to? What our leaders are doing is simply wiping this nation`s history completely.
Leaders like General Acheapong,Dr.Hilla Liman and others should be recongnised for their parts in our history regardless of their shortcomings.
Rather we are shamelessly naming our streets after foreign leaders like George Bush and others. Of all what Dr.Nkrumah did in Ghana and Africa,I only saw a building near Old Street in London named after him, and that was because he used to work there as a Kitchen Poter when he was a student and his locker still preserved when he became President of Ghana.

Mills was around when the Ga youth seized Kufuor's office. He did not say anything. When the name of Ohene Djan sports Stadium was changed back to Accra Sports Stadium, Mills said nothing. Why would you think he would turn in his grave if something has been changed into his name?
Also, I believe Mahama that Mahama is also aware of the name changing that is going on. Unfortunately, he had no balls to act. Remember, he was chosen by the kingmakers. Don't you remember he wanted to keep the name of Jubilee or Jubilee Flagstaff, but when the party members said NO, he obeyed them. Do you want to tell me that, he does not know that the name has been changed?
Anyway, thanks for the article, but don't let it remain here. You have a voice in the media, so try to bring this up for discussion and let the public know about this Taliban, Accra Mayor. I believe the good people of Accra will rise up against this stupidity because even though it is national affairs, it is one of their own heroes.

I am a fellow Ga but what the mayor did was so wrong and the president should have FIRED him straight, no questions asked. I believe that's the only way other people in leadership will do their home work before they begin to act. Thanks for this HISTORY lessons and contribution by way of this article. John Mahama has no balls because if he had he would have stopped all these naming of roads, buildings etc in the name Atta Mills.
