What is all this about nonsense about GMs that they want to bring to Africa. This causes cancer, immune disorders, and allergies but how research institutes are interested in it because it brings them money for the short term. We need organic or agro-ecological system of farming. Thank you Food Sovereignty Ghana and God save Africa.

I feel sad if we sit here, saying the Ghanaian scientist should investigate qualities in GMO seeds. What do you expect will be their findings? I think that investigation is unnecessary in the first place. Simply because you only investigate things you dont know about or certain with. But I can assure everyone there is enough information on GMO. I want you to understand that case study on GMO tows similar route. Yes, first it will qualify an assessment from research, secondly it will prove significant yield in the early years, thirdly it begins to fail the farmers and finally it implication on health, then it is kicked out. This is how it happens everywhere. So then what will be new with Ghana... But remember in all of these implication someone benefits more money...

I have so many examples why do we Ghanaian import pig feet, cow feet and the likes, tell you what they are waste where ever they are coming from. So we should be happy as if we have some gold to protect, GMO is a waste! Sad some people just trade their own people for money.

The Guardian reports: "The new alliance will lock poor farmers into buying increasingly expensive seeds – including genetically modified seeds – allow corporate monopolies in seed selling, and escalate the loss of precious genetic diversity in seeds – absolutely key in the fight against hunger. It will also open the door to genetically modified (GM) crops in Africa by stopping farmers' access to traditional local varieties and forcing them to buy private seeds." This is also the agenda of the Gates Foundation and of AGRA.
THIS STATEMENT SHOWS WHY GM FARMING WILL SOUND THE DEATH KNELL FOR SOUND AND DIVERSIFIED AGRIC IN OUR COUNTRY. LET ALL BE REMINDED THAT THESE GM SEEDS HAVE THE ABILITY TO WITHSTAND HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF PESTICIDES AND HERBICIDES LIKE ROUNDUP, ITSELF A LEADING PRODUCT OF MONSANTO, WHICH IS NOW KNOWN TO BE CARCINOGENIC AT EVEN DILUTIONS OF PARTS PER TRILLION. THAT IS MINISCULE AMOUNTS. OUR FARMERS WILL BEGIN TO DIE EARLY FROM STRANGE DISEASES. APART FROM THAT THESE DANGEROUS PESTICIDES ARE KNOWN TO PERSIST IN THE GM PLANTS AND END UP ACCUMULATING IN MAN. THIS HAS RECENTLY BEEN PROVED SCIENTIFICALLY IN AMERICA WHERE A RESEARCH SHOWED LARGE PORTIONS OF THE POPULATION HAVE HIGH AMOUNTS OF THESE PESTICIDES IN THEIR BLOOD. AGAIN WE WARN OUR POLICY MAKER-LET US BE CAREFUL......HAD I KNOWN IS ALWAYS AT LAST. IF THEY ARE INTERESTED IN RESEARCH REPORTS THAT DON'T AGREE WITH THEIR GM TRADE, ITS ALL THERE ON THE INTERNET. GOD SAVE US

A very thought provoking article, worthy of a national debate on the airwaves, with the same, IF NOT GREATER, regularity and fervour as we do with our politics; because the future of THE AFRICAN'S SURVIVAL IS AT STAKE. You forgot President Obama invited President Mills and other selected African Presidents to a G-20 meeting also attended by the CEO's of the GM companies, and gave Mills some GM seeds and $75 mil. for trials in Ghana.
I often wonder if our govt. officials and Parliamentarians (a)read some of the many information on the web to educate themselves about issues before them; (b)they understand or seek clarification of what they read; (c)they still think the WHITE man has Africa's interest at heart; (d) they are so blinded by greed (sharing the $75 mil bribe) as to NOT CARE FOR THE WELFARE OF THE AFRICAN. One of the European countries ACTUALLY BURNED A TEST FIELD TO STOP THIS CANCER IN ITS TRACK. Alhassan and his GREEDY colleagues must be tried for treason and "GENOCIDE IN THE MAKING".
