“The difference between votes for the first respondent and first petitioner (Akufo-Addo) was 325,863. This result should be taken in comparison to the outcome of votes the NPP and NDC presidential and Parliamentary candidates.
“The first Petitioner had 5,248,898 votes and his Parliamentary candidates had 5,248,882 which showed a difference of 16.
“For the first Respondent he garnered 5,574,761 as against 5,127, 641 by all his parliamentary candidates which showed a difference of 447,120. What accounted for this difference? It cannot be skirt and blouse phenomenon because the NDC are in the majority. The majority in Parliament secured 121,221 votes less than the minority. This is curious and undermines the one man one vote spelt out in the constitution.”
The above quote of Lawyer addisson completely ignores the fact that in the strong hold of the NPP such as Ashanti Region, the total votes cast in only 4 out of 11 constituencies in Kumasi alone was 222,953 as against all 3 constituencies in Tamale(189,082)and Bolgatanga(central and east)61,985.
This has been the most unfortunte and ignorant deduction and conclusions to have been made and drawn by a "leanered" counsel.

Before Addison gave his resignation address on the 7th Aug.,he made it clear for the petitioners to understand that they are asking the Supreme Court to do what no African country has done.Addison is in other words telling Nana Addo to forget about his petition.Addison proved his statement by citing different African countries where every electoral petition has failed. He mentioned Kenya, Zambia,Uganda and Nigeria where petitioners have failed in few instances because of "technicalities and numbers to effect the outcome".After given his resignation address,he also declared war if the petition is dismissed and I am sure the Supreme Court judges will ask him to clarify the declaration of violence.Addison added that "if the losers are not satified they may engaged in acts of violence".I think the judges must demand a proper interpretation of this declaration.Clearly, the judges were not impressed by his display of arrogance and insolence that is why they refused to give him even an extra second to complete his rubbish address.Thank you.

The NPP commentators so far have not or perhaps are incapable of presenting cogent counter arguments. Their refuge is no where else but in insults and threats of violence.
They not only lack credibility but civility. The more forceful an argument hits them the more unintelligent and bellicose they become. The fact is the Supreme Court of Ghana will expose itself as the most incompetent and corrupt of courts if it finds in favour of the petitioners. Even a single minority judge ruling in favour of the client will expose him or her self as the most base and stupid of jurists.
And the reason is simple. The petitioners found all the time to make allegations and then withdraw them. They found all the time in the world to submit thousands of pink sheets and revise them by amending their petition and altering their numbers as the case proceeded. They found all the time to run through several permutations of votes to be annulled which went from 4 million plus in evidence to 3 million plus in submission.
BUT THEY DID NOT FIND THE TIME TO ASSEMBLE, UNEARTH OR STUDY THE SHORTFALL OF 2002 PINK SHEETS. They never ever gave a reason as to why those pink sheets were mysteriously not mentioned or accounted for.
They expected either of the respondents to find them so they could argue that the respondents pink sheets moreover confirms and substantiates the petitioners allegation of irregularities.
But whose responsibility was it to trawl through those 2002 pink sheets? It was most definitely the petitioners responsibility.
If you want to BE DECLARED PRESIDENT of the ENTIRE COUNTRY, you present a wholesome and a fulsome case. This petition ought to have been thrown out on the first day. That was the hope of the petitioners so that their supporters would have the excuse to go on a rampage. But everyone has played along and given them the rope to hang themselves.
Addison says if the Supreme Court does not stamp out FRAUD and CRIMINALITY it will provide people with the reason to resort to civil disobedience. Yes perhaps, but the Supreme Court has not been presented with a petition nor has it been argued in court that the case is about ELECTORAL FRAUD and CRIMINALITY.
It has been about mathematical computations based on a selected sample of pink sheets predicated on administrative matters where willful conduct or fraud has not been alleged or attested to.
It has been a bloody waste of time and tax payers money. Typical Ghanaian love for unproductive ventures.

Dr.Bokor, you are too good for these crooks.Addison has completely tarnished his reputations beyond redemption.Nobody will in the future hire him as a bail lawyer, let alone defend them against a thief. He has done a lot of damage to himself and will surely pay for it.We know of responsible NPP lawyers who have refused to indulge themselves in this shameful adventure, when they were initially contacted to take it up. Thank God Almighty that the case was broacasted live for all Ghanaians to see.Though we may be laymen as far as the intepretations of the law is concerned, nevertheless,we can to a certain extend, understand what has taken place and still is. Perhaps, Addison and his cohorts could succeed in misleading us with their jargons but to the learned judges, they could not.If I were Akufo Addo, I would just plead with the court to strike the case out.If still at this stage Akufo Addo and his family members still hold the view and believe that the court is going to make him president, then I am afraid, there is something seriously wrong with them. It would be far better for him,Nana to stop the case than to allow it to travel to its logical conclusion where the verdict has already gone against him. To Addison, this is not a matter of defending a goat thief. This is a constitutional matter. How sad, that he has done such a thing to himself!

What a load of rubbish! Our education system is churning out educated idiots, people who cannot reason objectively away from tribal/political biases.
What is wrong with Addison’s reasoning? His figures show that almost everyone who voted for an NPP parliamentary candidate also voted for their Presidential candidate. However, over 447,000 voters, mostly NDC die-hards, simply went in and voted for Mahama and went away? The total votes gained by the independent parliamentary candidates was less than 30,000. So even if we assume that ALL those who voted for independent parliamentary candidates voted for Mahama, the difference between his total votes and those of his parliamentary party candidates should not be as much as the 8% that was reported.
What is wrong with that? Meanwhile Asiedu Nketia has admitted foreign material, which could well be cassava sticks, kontomire, banana leaves and newspaper cuttings, all included in the final count! Afari-Gyan himself admitted that the printing of duplicates, triplicates and quadruplicates was completely unnecessary. That is where the fraudulent vote padding and the “voodoo mathematics of twenty seven zero, transpositional and clerical errors” were committed.
First, the petitioners did not have evidence. Now faced with overwhelming evidence of fraud and criminality on the part of Afari-Gyan and his minions, you are trying to wiggle your way out with the comics of technicalities!
In an election where the difference between the winner and the loser is less than 2.5%, you really believe that errors of over 30% do not matter? You are lucky that you live in a jurisdiction where engineers, surgeons, pharmacists and others do not gloss over errors of 30%!

Isn't the fairest comparison between the total Presidential votes and the total Parliamentary votes the only means of detecting how many votes were spoilt, chewed or padded?

The clue is in the duplicate, triplicate and quadruplicate pink sheets. People simply took them and put in figures, and they were not even smart enough to cover their sorrry arses by completing the forms properly. That is exactly why they wouldn't sign them because, they could be traced.
If you have 8 candidaates and you even suspect that there could be more candidates (and the exact number of candidates was known LONG BEFORE the pink sheets were printed), why didn't they number the exras from 9-18 or whatever? Why did they use the same names 2, 3 and 4 times, when just one set was needed?
Our nation will only begin to move forward when those of us who have benefited from education begin to use what little we got from the classrooms and lecture theatres!

I have not found the exact figure anywhere so far, but it can be worked out. However, the combined votes of the parliamentary candiates of all the minority parties was less than 1%, about than 150,000. Even all that still leaves a shortfall of about 230,000.
The pinks sheets dupliates, triplicates and quadruplicates was the real mess, as Addison showed in his cross-examination of Afari-Gyan. There were cases where the polling station pink sheet number at a polling station in Tema was the same as one in Bolga or Tamale. That is why assigning exhibit codes was such a challenge for the petitioners. They had to produce over 800,000 sheets within 20 days.
The duplication was a clver ruse to hide the thievery, and it really required very carefu analses of the pink sheets to unearth the fraud. They were hoping that as happened in 1992, 1996 and 2004, the NPP would protest and then forget about it after a few days.
Whatever happens, taking the case to court has been a big eya opener for Ghanaians. We need to learn lesseons from it instead of looking at it with biased political prty lenses!
