Tony,
I see your point/s. I'd be the first to agree with you that the vulgar insults we see on Ghanaweb and in the Ghanaian media back home is something else which must be decried.
However, I'd also disagree with you about the place and value of insults in politics in particular, and the devt and change discourse in general. Insults are a part and parcel of the political game and we must live with it but refine it to the level of whites, Latinos, Asians, where insults in the form of lampooning in words and cartoons, satires, polemics, etc., form a veritable arsenal in the political and change discourses. Google for "insults in politics" and enjoy some choice ones free of charge (FOC).
Enjoy!

The insults are been traded on every media platform due to the our extreme levels of illiteracy. Sometimes it's good to have a military government to instil a bit of buga discipline. There's to much shit on our airwaves now

Oh!! you are wrong. We do need lecturers.
Even an inform insult can make an impart sometimes, dealing with unreasonable persons, we have to shake with insults which hit to anger and they start thinking about what was said.

I am glad you say you read the comments to your articles. This is what I have to say to you. You have proven to be a man of double standards. You yourself are the first culprit in the game of insults and cunningness. You lean towards the NDC when writing and ridicule those you don't favor. Now you turn around and talk as is if you are such a saint? Oh please

I will be very glad to point you to the article you wrote titled "The NPP nonsense". One, You have not written any in the past as far as i know you titled "The ndc or ppp or cpp nonsense". Two, calling Bawumiah a pink sheet expert was a wrapped and jeering insult. He was merely the main witness for the petitioners. Why not just call him that? or simply bawumiah? we know who he is. In the Ghana that we live in, you must belong if not actively even passively to a political party. I am NPP. For a columnist it might not be fair to ask you to declare yours but when your writings betray you, why not say it? That way it might make sense when you title your next column "THE NPP BULSHIT". And true we are not saints.

I have written about the Rawlings Dynasty in "Ghana Beware: The Curse of the Rawlings". I have written about President Mills in "Houston we have a problem." I have also written to express my fears if NPP does win the next election. If I were NDC, I would be cheering for the demise of NPP.
I have not lived in Ghana since 1976. I don't have to belong, and I don't belong.
The nonsense in the title referenced the idea of the in-fighting. As for Mr. Bawumia, he is a public figure, and as I have said, I am not a saint. My comment was because I do not like the fact that there is a petition in court over the election while we already have a President in place. I make no secret of that. If NDC were in court over the same thing, I would write against it as I have here. My primary interest is Ghana.
I don't think you will ever catch me calling anyone or anything "Bull Shit." I believe I have a little dignity than to do that.
You may take me at my word or you may choose not to believe me. I have no quarrel with that. Thank you just the same. This is a learning opportunity for me.

If you don't like the fact that there is an election petition in court that is your problem. You don't have to go writing sarcastic articles about it. It is the right of the petitioners to go to court if they feel they have been wronged, be it NDC/NPP/CPP. It is a better option than having foot soldiers who do not know where to take their grievances resulting to burning of buildings and cars. You are part of the problem we have in Ghana I would rather Ghanaians wake up and challenge wrong doing in a civilised and matured way. No wonder politicians take us for fools, our "fa ma nyame" syndrome, they can get away with all sorts of corrupt practices. How can we improve on our processes and help strengthen our institutions with your kind of attitude?
