What is leadership for? Is it just to give incoherent speeches, galvanize the political base, and supervise unprecedented levels of corruption? Leadership is there to direct and inspire. We can only have one president at any given time.We need and deserve quality leadership from the the man who sits at the top. When the head moves the rest of the body follows as it's commonly said among our african american kindred. The current crop of leaders have no room for independent and progressive minded individuals who want to contribute their widow's mite to the national development except for sycophants, praise singers, cronies and partners in their organized crime against the state. What action does Opanin has in mind because I know there are several smart and intelligent well-intentioned ghanaians home and abroad who want to get involved in the national development efforts but can't in through the iron clad front doors of the main political parties.

The past is gone. Let's talk about the fierce urgency of now and the immmediate future. We can spend unproductive endless times talking about what could have been and the merits and demerits of past african leaders. They were not perfect so we have the opportunity to improve on their performances if only we are clearly focused and can look down memory lane with clear eyed objectivity instead of withdrawing into the confused and melancholy state that yester years bring.

You are right Honorable. And I want to add that the problem with Africa is leadership problem. Our leaders are so greedy to the point that they become politicians just to fill their pockets and bellies on the back of the poor. This same greediness problem dated back hundreds of years ago and that was exactly what led our great grandparents to capture their own fellow and sell them for slavery. Today, out African leader sell us out to achieve their selfish agenda.
One thing we need to know about these aid money is that they are fake donations that return straight back to the pocket of the donor; here is how it works:
Let take this Japan example: so after the announcement of the money made available for aid, and widely publicized, lobbyists from Japan will get into contact with our leaders with their own agenda, saying for example, my country has promised this amount of aid and I can negotiate so that your country get X amount of that. But on the other hand, you have to close your eyes on this Japanese company operating in your country evade tax, not meeting environmental regulations... and so on…We also need to understand that, in the west, it is not as easy for leader to dip their hands into the government’s coffers as it is in Africa. So a nice way to do that is to pass the money through foreign aid, which will return back to them as kickback. So the lobbyist will get cashback (portion of the aid) or special treatment from the aid receiver, AND on the back of the poor African. Hhhhmmm, God is watching. This is the aid business!!! It is a fake one to fool us. Ask yourself this simple question: in the name of what the white person would want to give you free money without attachments? They do not owe us obligation so why are they forcing themselves to give us aid? Aid is a poisoned gift for Africa, and our leaders know it but they shut up because they get their share to fill their bellies and do not care what happens later to the poor. This is the same behavior that led to the development of slavery. We sold our own people to the stranger just to acquire wealth. This is the aid situation uncovered!!!

Why are we pointing fingers at just the leaders?
As Paa Kwesi Minta once stated: "...the African loves just his/her FAMILY and his/her BUILDING PROJECT.."
Any exceptions?

The problem with Africa leaders is greed and lack of patriotism for their people. What they know is corruption and stealing rather than thinking of how to help their countries and people. indeed, the developed nations are encouraging corruption in Africa by given loans or aid to African governments. African governments should be thought on how to leave with their limited resources rather than given them loans or aid to be put in their pockets or private bank accounts.

Nkrumah drove millions inro exile and the opponents who remained in Ghana were imprisoned and tortured to death. Kame Nkrumah started most of our problems in Ghana, The best thing that has ever happened to Ghana was the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah

You dare say that? I admire your forthrightness.Hush, hush! Nkrumah did a one man show . He played his one man orchestra and the entire nation was his audience. No one dared oppose Nkrumah. Capitalism drove him crazy so he fell in love with the other of the two evils, socialism/communism. Time has proven the socialist inspired Nkrumaism wrong though many may go livid at the suggestion. The alternative was a federal system of government with a free market economy as suggested by the Danquah/Busia/Dombo tradition. It took us nearly 40 wasted years before we adopted the free market economy under Rawlings who was himself an avowed socialist.Time has still not removed the scales from many eyes .

1-) African leaders are string-puppets to developed countries. Our so-called leaders accepted that situation because they come to power not through the front door, but the back door so they need an external power to cover them and maintain them. Less than 5% of African countries are exception.
2-) when more than half the countries in West Africa have their common currency ligated to an European current, which even doesn’t exist anymore, is that how you define “freedom” and “independence”(as opposed to your "free from political colonialism and domination")?
3-) the list can go on and on.. but I think whoever is satisfied with the political, economic and social conditions as it is currently in African, is a low achiever. Africa has the potential for attaining higher standards but we have leadership problem. Most of African presidents are greedy bandits turned Politician, who want to be served but not to serve. Welcome back on earth!!!

But we shall no longer be suckers of pan-Africanism.
