I agree that he is better when he has the field in front of him. Unfortunately for him, Rabiu Mohammed has established that he is better as the defensive midfielder so Kwadwo Asamoah might have to be the left back. To be honest, I thought he was good at the left back.

Anokwale, my dissention is from what you rightly identified with regards to Rabiu. You will also bear me out that he needs a person in the caliber of Asamoah to be effective in his role as defensive midfielder and I believe Asamoah is the best fit as the writer suggested. Good analysis anyway; keen to hear your take on my position.

I guess I am in the minority in that I seem to have liked the way Kwadwo played at the left back at AFCON. I like to think it is an advantage to have a left back or right back who is also a legitimate offensive threat. I think that against Burkina Faso the way he came up the left flank and squared the for Asante was excellent. Too bad Asante fluffed it. (They gave a corner but I think he just missed). I believe Kwadwo could give us more of that from left back.

I agree with this writer. I have always thought that Kwadwo Asamoah is not being deployed in ways that will bring the best out of him. I seem to think that the suggestion in this article is right on the money.

The suggestion is not bad. Alongside Wakaso/Muntari on the left, Adomah/S Asante(provided he works on his strength) on the right, Asomoah Gyan in the Middle(no. 10) and Waris/Mahatma leading the attack who knows?

There was no controversy. He is simply a weakling who chickened out. Please this attitude of lining the Ayews up for criticism @ the least opportunity is unacceptable.

I agree with you 300%; our problem is that the coach and his assistant cannot think constructively, they are copycats who put Kwadwo Asamoah at full back just because his team is using him in that position. I prefer him playing the #10 position than Andre Ayew. The boy is being deprived of his right position.

Chris, I think for once I totally disagree with you. I see Kwadwo Asamoah as one poster described, a complete 'weakling'who is being overly pampered by Ghanaians. For all the over 50 games that he has played for the BS, he has done well in less than 10. Below 20%.
All that he is consistent about is a litany of excuses.- Demons or witches chasing him over the #10 shirt, tiredness, wrong deployment by coaches etc etc.
Strong characters have been deployed everywhere on the pitch and there have been no excuses.
Sulley Muntari has played on the left, center and behind the strikers. Essien has played almost everywhere since his days with the under 12 side. Appiah played everywhere in midfield. Even Dede Ayew. He played as a striker for Marseilles for most of last season. You admit KPB succeeded where Asamoah failed at the world cup. Asamoah was almost dropped by the Serbians before they left. I think we will do him a lot of good criticizing him and keeping him awake.
Those of us who are old enough get scared when we read such articles. It reminds us of the days when people tried desperately to defend Tony Yeboah for his poor showing with the BS.Even though Yeboah was the star striker, he left the scoring to Prince Poley, Abedi and the other midfielders. And all we got was excuses upon excuses. And People wrote volumes to defend him. Anytime Abedi was not around he let us down. The big man was a baby when it came down to the BS. How many goals did he score for Ghana?
I am afraid Kwadwo Asamoah is blazing the same trail.
This big Juve guy is simply a kid in the BS shirt.
This is the end of my gospel.

The formation 4-3-3 can be good for the Black Stars. Kwadwo can be useful at the middle of the mid-field. Let's try this formation when playing friendly game.

"After a brief chat with Appiah and his assistant Maxwell Konadu, what I was able to glean from the conversations that we had was that Asamoah loves to play with the majority of the pitch in front of him so that at will, he can decide which pass to pick.". It is not what the player wants that matters most! The coach(es) should have his concepts and strategies and so choose the players to fit into that concept or strategy/tactics! This means , if there is someone who plays that position better he captures that position and the only solution is to find an alternative position for Asamoah! This also means if he is not good enough for the alternative positions offered him, then he has no place in the BS. For now the coaches are trying to "find" the best position for him in the BS because he belongs to the top elites of the Ghanaian players we have at the moment! He has to be more confident and "steadfast" not always chickening out or falling down at the slightest tackle or"push"! AA has been "working" with Asamoah for a longtime (right from Leroy's time till now), it is Asamoah who has to show that he is ready and best for a particular position, other than that he has to justify his inclusion in the BS squad by also performing at his best at whatever position the national coach nominates him for! That is the least expected from a national player of a high calibre!!

Chris, I think your are right but I gather and you admit that currently it is the role a player is given and how he fit into that role is the thrust here, players start playing in a particular role and assume that is their best sometimes they psychologically fit into that role until a coach gives him a different role then "puff" the player's contribution from the new role is better than where he thought was the best role for him, in our history there have been several players like that, remember Sam Johnson, Buckhard Ziese moved him from deffence to mid-field to wings and sometimes assisted strike, what am say is that Asamoah's role is maybe just as he is being used as utility player "he is versatile" because he does well whatever role he is given or maybe he should be given a free role here in the black stars because he has done it before.
