Even right wing America thinkers are aware of why Iran is the way it is Iran did have a democracy, but is was overthrown by the UK and USA. Why? Because both wanted oil for nothing! They didn't want to pay market price for Iran's oil, and were very angry when Iran's oil was nationalised by former President Mohamed Mosaddegh.
Many intelligent Americans warned Mr Bush not to start a war with Iraq because it would make Iran more powerful and he didn’t listen, just thought about getting all that free oil in Iraq. Now Iran is a powerful country in the region whether we like it or not Iran’s President is not only going to Ghana he is going around the world looking for friends and allies. This is something that all countries do including Ghana if this is the standard of intellectual discourse coming out of Ghana about a complex subject like Iran’s relations with the rest of the world. Ghana is in serious trouble because a countries elite thinkers is a reflection of the general population and in this case the signs are not good at all no wonder the EU can come to Ghana, and run rings round you Ghanaians.

I read about how the democratically elected government was overthrown in Iran because of oil. Now the Iranians have claimed their country back and for short time, are advancing in all firlds, especially technologicall, like wild fire. Ghana needs to learn.

But, before you wrote this nonsense, you should have asked intelligent Foreign Policy and International Foreign Relations experts why the U.S is now at logger-heads with its once trusted partner in the Middle East.
Kwame, you've simply exposed your idiocy by writing on a subject you're either misinformed or ignorant. Iran was once a trusted partner of the U.S until its CIA and UK's MI6 involvement in the coup which overthrew a democratically elected Iranian government of Prime Minister Mohamed Mossadegh when his government nationalised the oil industry run by U.S and British companies. Fas forward to today, Iran is simply in Ghana and Africa to strengthen NAM allegiance with Ghana, and in the same vein wants diplomatic support for its nuclear programme. Now, then the USA and its Western allies have no problem with countries like Israel, Pakistan and India having nuclear weapons for 'peaceful' purposes but increasingly against Iran's nuclear enrichment programme. Is the U.S playing double standards or playing the 'World's Police'? And by the way, if Iran is such a threat to U.S and its allies, one would expect Iran to have been 'nuked' by the U.S by now.
If you see President Ahmadinejad as the principal enemy of the U.S, and for that matter shouldn't be welcomed in Ghana, how bitterly ironic he's allowed into the U.S and speaks at the UN, where he lectures the world from the UN podium?
