The mother turns back to the boys and says, "We're going upstairs for a minute. You two stay here and watch TV, we'll be right back, ok?" The two boys nod ok, and the parents take off upstairs.
The oldest of the 2 boys is old enough to know what's going on now, and he gets up and tiptoes upstairs.
At the top of the stairs, He peeks into his mom and dad's bedroom and shakes his head. He goes back downstairs to his little brother. "Come with me", He says.

Kuagbenu was only expressing his view and he has the right to say so. When we leave in a country where people will not follow due process but resort to machoism, we are all the worse for it. The labor act outlines measures that workers should take in order to get their grievances addressed. The labor act also talks about what should happen if any group does not fully axhaust all these means before resorting to a strike. Kuagbenu was just re-eching what the law says. What is the point in saying that since Kuagbenu was once a teacher he should always support teachers even if what they are doing is wrong. You said he was a hypocrite. I thought you will mention one instance where as a teacher Kuagbenu called for a strike or participated in one.

If your 'beef' against Mr Kuagbenu (whom I know nothing about) is because of his statements about teachers' strikes and any associated "unethical" and "unprofessional" conduct in this regard, then in my view (and whatever his faults leading to his dismissal), he is right. You cannot be so selfish in your judgment of a person. If indeed he has poorly managed the National Service Secretariat and therefore deserves to be replaced, then so-be-it, but I doubt very much if his present predicament is the direct result (or has anything to do with his comments on striking teachers) of those comments on radio or TV.
I believe as a nation, we need to seriously reflect on industrial relations including the use and timing of strikes at a time of national economic difficulty.
I am for the rights of unions and workers but these have to be tempered with the overriding needs of those they serve as well as the national need. It is not always the case that lone would have to resort to strikes for their demands to be met and government (and employers) have a duty and responsibility to ensure that there is fairness and equity in how labour is rewarded.
We all have our responsibilities (and our rights, and the two would have to go together). I have condemned the timing and nature of the present strikes, but equally I have blamed the government side for not properly addressing the concerns of those going on strike. That does not make me an enemy of e.g. teachers and doctors?
Mr Kuagbenu is entitled to his opinions whether you agree with him or not, but that should not cloud your vision of him as a public servant. Let us rely rather on the evidence surrounding his stewardship as NSS Executive Director, not our personal and rather selfish sentiments.
