politicians in ghana differ from other politicians all over the World because they do not understand why other persons should eat and survive with them.

When I read or hear such discourse, I become so happy and wonder why majority of Ghanaians do not think this high? You should President or lead Parliament. Ghanaians are greedy and selfish and it will never move Ghana forward no matter what resources God endows Ghana, if we do not change our attitudes. Look at Nigeria wobbling in poverty with this daily oil production!
The government should pay the striking doctors NOW. This should have been budgeted for before paying politicians. Politicians should be treated as all other people.

GHANA'S LEADERSHIP, INCLUDING THE RECIPIENTS OF THE ECONOMICALLY UNSUSTAINABLE SUCCESSIVE EX-GRATIA PAYOUTS EVERY 4 YEARS TO ARTICLE 71 OFFICE HOLDERS ARE AWARE THAT GHANAIANS ARE NOISY AND TOOTHLESS, SO THEY ARE "CASHING IN" ON THE STUPIDITY AND COWARDICE OF GHANAIANS BIG TIME.
MEANWHILE, THE NORTH AFRICANS ARE USING THEIR "ARAB SPRING" TO SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" OF THEIR LEADERSHIP LOOTING.
GHANAIANS ARE THE FOOLISH ARCHITECTS OF THEIR OWN DESTINY.
THEY WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE IN THE DARK AT NIGHT AND USE HARD UNPOTABLE "PURE WATER".

Thank you Mr Gyan-Appenteng for your good write up on this very shameful ex-gratia payment to Ghanaians parliamentarians.
This payment really is very immoral and inequitable. This considering that already these same people are enjoying at the expense of the poor people in the country the following perks:
bungalow, 2 cars, garden boys, cooks, free petrol and their yearly salaries. This plus some of them like the President and few of them do not pay taxes. This is a complete abuse of power in Ghana.
Your article mentioned of UK MPs which is a clear example. The fact is no UK MP receives such perks as I have mentioned above that Ghanaian MPs receive. Apart of the Housing allowance which some UK MPs receives for the fact of their heavy schedule in travelling to and from, all the other perks that Ghanaian MPs receive are non-existent. Also, what is most astonishing with Ghana's case is that after 56 years of independence, our constitution or Parliament is still maintaining the Colonial mentality of dishing out those perks I mentioned above. The question is, how is the country going to progress or develop when Ghanaian Politicians has not changed their MINDSET of coming into politics to become RICH at the expense of the electorate. Not forgetting that those who elected them into parliament themselves are very poor from the villages.
African politics when view in comparably to developed countries is very very sad indeed. Really until there is complete change of MINDSET, the continent's development will continue to far lag behind till the world ends.

Why the comparison with UK? The issue is, is any ex gratia payment justified, and if so, what is that justification?
