yes, the roads are not the best but note that there are some places in the South and Volta region that have poor roads too.

Communication is alright the lights are the same like its in most of Ghana but the roads are the problem in all the three northern regions.
Unmotorable roads, they call them feeder roads that benefit only the contractors who gravel them in every three or six months and collect millions of cides for only one rainfall to erode everything.
The day it rains, the contractors start biding for the next graveling of the feeder roads again and share the money with the top politicians in the regions. It's very pathetic.
If the roads were motorable, not only northerners but most Ghanaians will surely move there and open businesses over there.
Our leaders should think twice before they squander this opportunity this time around.
Those ceremonial Vice Presidency did not help northerners in anyway at all.
Northerners were always used and dumped.
This is the time and no northerner should allow this opportunity to slip by again.

How can the north develop with such people in helm of the country's affairs?

Why do some ill-informed, know it all akans seem to think it is up to a few collective prosperous “northerners” to develop the north. The colonial government graced the south with economic development projects and infrastructure, to the exclusion of the northern regions. Subsequent contemporary governments have followed this development model. From colonial days to present, developmental projects in Ghana have been initiated and funded by the government, therefore calling for northerners to assume the responsibilities for their own development smacks of tribalism.

We have on several occasions elaborated the evil agenda of the ewes and some northerners to destroy the very substance of the Akan. we go further as there still some fools who underestimate the severity and dire nature of this conspiracy. everyone was surprised when a so called pepeni christian chose mainly alajihs , were shocked by the trip to Turkey and the Lebanese or sekou's somersault of political parties. in every day life stories of children from mixed ethnic backgrounds denying and negating their Akan heritage in favor of the ewes or northerners eg fifi kwetey whose mother is fanti. this is a war against the Akans period and its time to stand up. below i have extracted from Wikipedia the translations of verses in the Qur'an and ideologies so you see where this comes from. the hypocrisy and the recommended camouflage when undermining the efforts and desires of the Akans .
Qur'an chapter 4.89. They yearn that you should disbelieve just as they disbelieved, so that you might be all alike. Do not, therefore, take from among them confidants and allies until they emigrate (to Mad?nah and join you) in God's cause. But if they turn away (from this call and continue their hostility against you), seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and do not take to yourselves any of them as confidant, nor as helper.
9:5 When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them.
Taqiyya ???? (alternate spellings taqiyeh, taqiya, taqiyah, tuqyah) is a form of religious dissimulation,[1] or a legal dispensation whereby a believing individual can deny his faith or commit otherwise illegal or blasphemous acts while they are at risk of significant persecution.[2]
Kitman (Arabic kitm?n ????? "secrecy, concealment") is the act of paying lip service to authority while holding personal opposition. It is a sort of political camouflage, for the purpose of survival, in circumstances where open opposition would result in persecution.

The extended family system of the past, which the colonial master deliberately destroyed has affected northers in particular because those you mentioned are thought to strive as individuals and not as communities. Moreover, they use their brethren only for political offices.

My friends, the guinnea fowl project was a misplaced priority in the first place. Most home in Northern Ghana rear guinnea fowls for pleasure and each home will confess how expensive it is to rear especially if you have to keep them indoors. How many youth especially will be given the funds to take part in this venture? Comparatively, expanding and increasing irrigation will have been a better option. It takes little effort to go into dry season farming and the water bodies are there, they just need dredging and desilting. This will have employed millions of youth who migrate seasonally. Before SADA begun i wrote an article explaining why only Northerners can develop the North, the issues that were raised then in 2008 are being talk about today.

I don't know the whole strategy SADA adopted to implement its guinea fowl project but from the little that I am aware of, the strategy is unhelpful and will not benefit northerners and for that matter, Ghanaians. To set up a huge enterprise with Asongtaba means the money will go into purchase of land, equipment, computers, vehicles, fuel, air cons, payment of salaries of workers [some, square pegs in round holes], construction of complex buildings etc. The money will simply go down the drain with few returns to show for the huge investment. So what do we do? There are already thousands of guinea fowl farmers all over the North. Identify the enterprising ones and support them in various ways. They already know the business, just raise their capacity, monitor and they will deliver. Don't ignore our traditional farmers. For many years, Ghana was the worlds leading producer of cocoa and this was produced by small-scale peasant farmers in southern Ghana, not large SADA/Asontaba-like enterprises. Small is beautiful.
