This matter must be settled by a competent court! No amount of insults of supporters of either side in the feud will do. Only a trial will solve this matter. If Kpegah's suit is so totally brainless and useless, the court will quickly dismiss it and the whole world will see it. Akufo's name will be cleared and all his detractors put to shame.
But the matter MUST go to court since whether Akufo has been practicing for 42 years or not cannot be his defense in this matter.
Justice Kpegah has already put his nose on the grinder. He must not withdraw his suit. Let a court judge it and put the matter to a final rest.

The allegations are that there's something fishy about the manner Akufo got called to the bar in Ghana. If it went well and is clean, Akufo can easily defend himself in court. Therefore he must go to court and if he wins, sue Kpegah back if he thinks it is appropriate.
But first to court to defend himself. This matter must not be settled privately behind closed doors. The rumors must be settled for all Ghanaians to see fiili fiili. We should stop insulting each other over this case and let a court decide. Many of us are talking of things we don't know much about. The court will find these out.

His 'shady' past might have said a lot about him. A guy from a father who was a legal luminary went to the bar from Makola or from overseas!!!
Did Kuffour practice law after his Oxford PPE?
Ghanaian are notoriously praise singers and Okoampa's article lacks critical analysis which might say something about his own intellectual level.
His denigration of people he perces as his arch enemies suggests his lack of human compassion. This 'lack of human compassion' in some Africans lead to genocide of the Rwanda type or the deportation of Nigerians in Ghana or Ghanaian in Nigeria by callous leaders.
Okoampa has no limit on how he addresses his elders. Is this how the NPP errand boys behave?

Mahmoud, you probably do not understand this case. The thing is that, there was something fishy and smelly in the way Akufo got called to the bar in Ghana. He may have had things easy because of his status as dadaba. Some of the people involved are dead but some people know something which many of Akufo's present defenders don't know.
All Kpegah has to prove is that things didn't go normally when Akufo was called to the bar. He does not have to produce anybody whom Akufo is impersonating. He only has to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the present Akufo is not really all what he claims to be. And that he did not get called to the bar in Ghana in the proper way.

Kwame,
You are making the same mistake that others have made so far: the notion that Akufo-Addo should not defend himself against a “paranoid” Justice Kpegah. I find it strange and unbelievable that the only excuse that is being offered by Akufo-Addo’s relatives and friends so far is that it is better for the Election 2012 presidential candidate to ignore Justice Kpegah, since the latter is almost senile! What a joke!
Here is Akufo-Addo who believes that he has been robbed of the Ghanaian presidency, and thus has followed through with his threats of getting the results of Election 2012 overturned via a lawsuit that is currently before Ghana’s Supreme Court, yet you guys think it is less important for him to pursue a matter that impugns his personal integrity? So, you actually think that his personal integrity is less important than the collective NPP case? Indeed, wonders will never end.
When Akufo-Addo was accused of cannabis use a few years ago, his lawyers came out to threaten the accusers with a “fiery” lawsuit, only to disappear into the sunset of inaction. Today, there is another blistering accusation against Akufo-Addo, and you are suggesting that Justice Kpegah is not worth the attention that he is craving! Ha! Ha! Listen, Ghanaians are not as stupid as some of you people assume. The paradox is obvious: Akufo-Addo is renowned for filing important lawsuits and winning the majority of them, yet here is a man who is ignoring attacks that impugn his personal integrity, and some are arguing, in this pivotal case, that silence is golden? It is better for him to address the issue so his detractors will be forced to shut up! Any other route is cowardice, in my opinion.
By the way, if Mr. Kpegah was already on an appellate court, or the Supreme Court, when Kufuor appointed Akufo-Addo as justice minister, then Akufo-Addo was NOT Kpegah’s boss. At least, allow those of us who are experts in public administration to teach you a thing or two about the separation of powers. For your information, Akufo-Addo served under the executive branch of government, which, according to the Constitution, is at the same level as the judiciary and the legislature. Of course, the executive tends to garner the greatest attention, only because it defines public policy, which is then given the nod by the legislature. So, to claim that Akufo-Addo was Kpegah’s boss has no factual basis.
Finally, by virtue of his ascendance to the Supreme Court, Kpegah has accomplished much more, personally, than Akufo-Addo, in the strict context of their legal careers. You need to remember that Akufo-Addo’s appointment to the office of justice minister was based on party affiliation, whereas Kpegah’s appointment to the Supreme was based on merit alone. In that strict sense, Akufo-Addo would occupy a lower legal “tier” than Justice Kpegah.
One more thing: I will be happy when Akufo-Addo counter-sues Justice Kpegah "for heavy damages, including punitive damages, of course." That will be the day that I will publish another piece to salute the man Akufo-Addo! For now, we are all waiting, as Akufo-Addo's silence is earsplitting!

This goes to buttress the fact that Ahoofe is an irresponsible liar who does not check his facts before writing them. How did he come to think that Akufo was Kpegas boss when they belong to different institutions of state.Kpegah rose to Acting Chief Justice in effect constitutionally,he was at one time the fourth highest ranked officer of the land After the president, the vice and the speaker. So where from this nonsense of Kpegah serving under Akuffo if any thing, it was the other way round.Kpegah had to resign because Kuffour by passed him and appointed a junior Georgina Woode who was serving under Kpegah as the chief justice.A political appointment which took a lot of us by surprise though we know she is pro npp.
This Ahoofe man writes without reason. He is coloured by his political and ethnic biases and continue to make a fool of himself. The question posed to Akuffo is simple! How did he qualify to became a lawyer? The law Schools he attended both abroad and at home and most important, did he go to the Ghana law school as is required of any foreign qualified lawyer. There are more questions but these are only basic ones but until we have answers to these questions,we will continue to doubt Akuffo's legal credentials.

We have been told by the media that Mr Kpegah has instituted legal proceedings in the High Court against Nana Akufo-Addo for impersonation. How do you expect Nana Addo to respond to the lawsuit? Through a press conference? As any lawyer ought to know, a lawsuit is conducted through the filing and exchange of documents in court. If Nana Akufo-Addo's friends or supporters have advised him to ignore Mr Kpegah's legal action, that is just advice, to be accepted or rejected. He should know better.
No one who is familiar with the operation of law, ignores a law suit instituted against him or her, because there is nothing like a little lawsuit. A person facing a lawsuit whether or not he/she is a lawyer - innocent or otherwise - responds to the suit in a court of law and not in the court of public opinion.
Do not read too much into Nana Akufo-Addo's "earsplitting" silence. Can you confirm that Mr Kpegah has served any papers on Nana Akufo-Addo, concerning his alleged lawsuit? If so, can you confirm whether Nana Akufo-Addo has filed any documents in response to the suit or has simply ignored it? Have you made any inquiry in the court registry?
Why is he apparently, been stampeded into declaring his position outside the court? Whether Nana Akufo-Addo will sue Mr Kpegah or not, is an issue which will depend on the outcome of Mr Kpegah's suit. He may not sue prior to that. Even if he is vindicated by the court, Nana Akufo-Addo is not obliged to sue Mr Kpegah for damages. In my judgement it will not be worth it, because his stature would not have been dented by the lawsuit in any way.

By the way, your maturity in responding to Okoampa-Ahoofe’s ethnic ranting deserves commendation. For the love of mankind, I still don’t understand why a university teacher who has opted to make it his vocation to train students to become responsible citizens in English, Literature and African-American Studies can be extremely uncultured any time he writes a column for Ghanaweb.
Daniel Pryce, please don't compare the appointment of judges at any level in Ghana to that of the developed countries. Kpegah made it through the ranks to become a Supreme Court Judge but to imply that he got there solely by 'merit' and unbounded intelligence, without any favouritism, may be deviating from the thrust of your argument.
As far as I know, Supreme Court Justices are appointed by the executive arm of Governments. The Government will always appoint perceived friends and disappoint sworn enemies. To say Kpegah is more accomplished in a personal capacity than Akufo-Addo may not be fair. Having being considered an ‘enemy’ by Rawlings throughout the 80s and 90s, you know how well Akufo-Addo would have fared had he ventured out from the bar to the bench.
He has a very successful law practice and never had any intention of becoming a Judge in a government headed by Acheampong or Rawlings. Personally, I think most Ghanaians know who Akufo-Addo is, while a lot do not even know who Kpegah is (i.e. until recently when his love for the media has blossomed). He is an eminent Statesman who sometimes thinks he is still a serving Supreme Court Justice. This can be attributed to his advanced age.
Whether Akufo-Addo responds to Justice Kpegah is his personal decision. Personally, Akufo-Addo had excelled himself over the years and everyone knows him to be a lawyer. That is what matters in a world of practicality. Our over-reliance on qualifications has made Ghana what it is today.

Pryce, do you really believe that this crap Kpegah filed with the Court merits Akufo Addo's attention? For your information, It doesn't, and the suit is being rightly treated with all the contempt it deserves. You see, the suit is so frivolous that Kpegah could be sanctioned by the Court. Before you came to Kpegha's defense, did you ask why he failed to file a omplaint with the disciplinary committee of the GBA before he filed the suit. Are you also not aware that GBA or the Office of General Legal Counsel is mandated to investigate and sanction persons not authorized to practice law in Ghana? Clearly Kpegah's failure to do this leads to reasonably prudent conclusion that his claim before the court are political and will be summarily dismissed A neophyte lawyer will not file what Kpegah did last week. I know Kpegah is your clans man, but he is not as bright as you think. He is nothing more than a political hack or a foot soldier who was elevated to the Supreme Court by Rawlings to do the latter's bidding. Incidentally, Nana will not sue Kpegah for damages because he is judgment proof. One more thing, ask Kpegah to vaccate the government bungalow he has been squatterning in. It is only meant for a serving justice of the Supreme Court. Kpegah has been retired for five years.

But the bottom line still remains that Akufo must go to court to answer the suit. That's what we all want. There's no use our sitting here arguing the silliness of the suit and insulting each other. Many of us want to put this behind us as quickly as possible. Don't you?

John Mahama should realize that the question is not whether or not he will have to surrender the Presidency but when he will do it because there is incontrovertible evidence to show that he is a de facto President. In any case he should note that some of these seamingly "annoying" case filed at our courts are actually good for democracy. They teach aspiring politicians and big men that they must be didligent, meticulous and above board in all dealings even in their earlier years. You never know what might come up years later.

If Kpegah (the card carrying member of the NDC) believes in his case, why does he NOT produce the person being impersonated?
I cannot for the life of me understand why a former Judge should arouse such controversy. Or should his outburst be blamed on the ingrained jealousy in the Ewe?
It makes me wonder how many cases Kpegah won as a practicing lawyer.
He is a twerp. Kufuor was right not to appoint him as the prospective Chief Justice.

The answr is a procedural matter for the court to decide whether Justice Kpeglah should produce the impersonated person.
From the point of rule of law, he does not but only to show that Akuffo-Addo is not he same as W.E. K Akuffo-Addo and that is sufficient.
Tell Mr. Ahoofe and his followers that any private citizen can contest the identity of any public servant who wants to represent him.
In recent time, an MP was challenged by a citizen that he the MP is nota Ghanaian and the court ruled that he was a Briton and consequently jailed him.
There is not difference in substance between both cases.
Which institution awarded a law certificate to Akuffo-Addo in Ghana?
Let is know. Holding a status of a lawyer for 42 years does not exonorate him.

Though I disagree with some things that Kwame Okoampa writes, but also what is true is that I do pick some things from his article and learn from them. Saying so comes Mr. Pryce observation of the fact there urgent need for Nana Akufo-Addo to clear the air about the allegations made previously and now law-suit by Justice Kpegah, to me is meaningless, why, is simple the fact of the matter is in politcs there are always allegations and counter allegations. One only responds to the one he or she deems signicant, then comes the law suit, Akufo-Addo will only be obliged to respond when the case is called in the court. Then Mr Pryce's observation that Akufo-Addo being Justice minister was not a boss to Justice Kpegah I disagree simply because, not an absolute boss but being a justice minister he had some powers which Kpegah hadn't eg Akufo-Addo had the autority to modify some sectors of the judicial system or introduce new judicial bills which Kpegah would have to adapt or accept; just to mention few. Then the issue of Akufo-Addo of Achieving less because of being appointed by a political party makes less meaning to me simply because Akufo-Addo did no seek to be a judge but a private lawyer specialiced in one particular or multiple field but important likewise just like private lawyers like Richard Horse-Race Haynes of USA. My opinion piece does not vary my support to Justice Kpegah in this law-suit.

I agree with Pryce's observation that the Minister of Justice is not the boss of the Chief Justice or his/her prepresentative.
Although they are performing parallel jobs for the STATE. In the same vein, the IGP is not a surbordinate of the Minister of Justice although he performes the duty of law enforcement.
The IGP is given directives by the Minister of Interior and the Justices of the Supreme Court are given directives by the Chief Justice.
The President or his representative cannot with an Act of Parliament serve as the boss of any juducial appointee. Unless you want as to go back to Busis's interference in the judicial system or Nkrumah's dictirship, then let us begin appointing political operatives as 'bosses'.
In brief the logic of being 'boss' because one could enact a bill in parliament is a very shallow logic. Could the Justice Minister be the boss of the President of he enacts a Bill in Parliament to require the President to enforce certain duties?
In brief, if this Makola logic is being used to justify actions on this website, it begs the question, of how one sees truth.

Allow me to just put it your makola analogy may be you will understand better; two makola business women, one being richer than the other, The richer one is automatically the superior though the more fortunate one may not dictate to less fortunate one because she also has her money. This is what Kwame Okoampa was saying about Akufo-Addo that his position as Justice minister is Superior to that of justice Kpegah even though he was not directly under him. Is just a simple every day issue I wonder why you are finding it difficult to understand because you locked yourself in box of theory and unnecesary philosophical analysis, one thing is also though is many people have not been able to weave practical and theoritical issues smoothly together and Mr. Pryce is not being different. Finally "no seas corbarde".
