I believe you just finished the low cost school of journalism in Accra and are trying to exercise some cheap stuff. You nearly did score a D- but keep on trying for the next ten years, you may score a D.Keep it up, Pepeni.

My dear brother Abugri, why are all your articles full of insults? Try to refine your words. Let's build a united and peaceful Bawku. To me, the issue should not be a question "re-naming the school" but rather how we can channel our youthful energies in bridging the divisiveness among us as a people and working hard for peace in the Municipality so that the school will continue to attract students and teachers from all over the country as it used to be in the 60s to 90s. Whether the name is changed or maintained, we must all understand that Bawku can be better and greater than it is now if we concern ourselves on things that are most necessary to the soul of the late Naba Azoka, those before him, and those after him, as well as future generations yet to come, and that is PEACE AND UNITY. I am very certain that the late Naba Azoka and even the current Naba Azoka II would be happy if Bawku is peaceful and the people united. Of what use is it for 'us' to gain all the beautiful recognition in the world and lose our 'souls'. Thank you and i wish you good luck in your effort. I think Bawku has a long way to go. PEACE!

The writer of the original article(Abugri Sumaila Haruna) has deliberately decided to whitup Kusaug sympaties and in his desire to pursue the same issues that have gotten Bawku into its present situation.
Intransigence and sometimes deliberate and blatent lies will not solve the problems in Bawku.
Oral history can be varied and reconditioned to potray a version that best serves the purpose.
Some ghanaians prefer to peddle/plackard lies and unresearched/poorly researched stories to bolster their ideologtes.
God help mother Ghana.

Haruna Sumaila Abugri certainly has a lot to learn about the history of Bawku. This tribalistic kusasi bigot is not only treading on dangerous grounds, he has also displayed deep ignorance and mischief by postulating such a myopic and dangerous idea. He is talking about late 1950? That was yesterday! The history of Bawku goes waaay back and is there for all to read and learn. In the first place, Bawku was founded by Naa Ali in the fifteenth century, when Abugrago Azoka's great grandfather was even not yet born. Naa Ali was a Mamprusi. Secondly, the first settlements in and around Bawku were put up by Naa Ali and his Mamprusi entourage long before the Kusasis migrated into the area from their base in Ayuga, Zawga and Biengo in current Burkina Faso. Thridly, the Bawku market was constructed by Naa Mamboda in the seventeenth century. Naa Mamboda was a Mamprusi. The Bawku market is one of the biggest and most economically viable markets in Ghana today. Fourthly, the creation of the Bawku paramouncy and its associated kanton chiefdoms was initiated under Naa Bugri Lobzuri, who was a Mamprusi. Fifthly, the land on which the Bawku hospital is built was donated by Naa Saa Wuni, who was a Mamprusi. Sixthly, the land on which Abugrago Azoka's house stands was given to him by Amande, son of Naa Mahama II, a Mamprusi. Seventhly, most of the infrastructural developments in Bawku were initiated when the late Imoro Salifu and Alhaji Sherrif Ahmed Guma were ministers of the Upper/ Upper East Region, both of them Mamprusis. I could go on and on and on. And as you can see, Bawku owes its founding and development to Mamprusis. Haruna Sumaila Abugri should also catalogue what Kusasis have done for Bawku apart from destruction. Look, Dr. Nkrumah did not need the consent of Abugrago to build the Bawku Secondary School. And Haruna should mention the other traditional rulers who rejected the opportunity to have secondary schools built in their traditional areas and thus turned away the authorities. He should mention just one of such traditional areas. This is just a white, blatant lie. What about the Bawku Technical School and the Bawku Junior Secondary School? Was it Abugrago and his so-called council of tindanas who gave the land for these institutions to be built? This is just preposterous. Why does Haruna Sumaila Abugri and Kusasis like him think that they MUST lie in order to defend the indefensible? If anybody deserves to have institutions or events named after them, then Abugrago Azoka will be the last person. Why? Because Abugrago Azoka was a Yanga fugitive, who escaped from Pusiga to Bawku and was rescued by Naa Mahama II. Abugrago Azoka committed a sacrilegious crime in Pusiga and run to Bawku to escape justice. That’s how come he came to Bawku in the first place. Subsequently, Naa Mahama made Azoka his sandal bearer and built a house for him in Gingande, a suburb of Bawku, where his son now lives with his family. The infamous history of Abugrago Azoka is well known in Bawku. And so Haruna Sumaila Abugri and his ilk should stop this foolish propaganda. It will not work. Even if the Kusasis think that NDC is in their favour, they should remember that NDC is NOT a kusasi party. The NDC has a national character and is aware of the dicey conflict in Bawku; and I don’t think that President Mahama and the party hierarchy will like to condone such mediocrity and endanger the lives of the whole populace of Bawku just to glorify a nonentity. The initial naming of the Bawku Secondary School as Azoka College was a political gimmick by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to spite the Mamprusis who refused to support and vote for him. Abugrago Azoka does not represent anything so far as Bawku is concerned. He is a nonentity and is not even worthy for the Bawku cemetary to be named after him. So Haruna and his ilk should rest their souls. It will never happen!

I wish to state that during the said period (1957)Aburago Azoka was a grass cutter ( I mean cutting grass grass) and the person responsible for the upkeep of Naa Yiremia's horse at the Palace of Naa Yiremia, who was then the Chief of Bawku. If Aburago knew the essence of education, why did he not send his son, the present supposed chief to school?
