Whatever reasons the doctors have advanced for their failure to separate the twins alive may only be tangible to them. The complexity of their in utero joining should have informed the doctors that separating them with one alive was the better option. To claim that they (the doctors)never new that they shared some bowels make little sense. Since they were paid to separate the twins alive, but ended up separating them dead, what happened?

The separation of the conjoint twins was a surgical feat indeed, unfortunately the eventual outcome was not joyous end we wished for. That said for the purpose of probity pertinent questions need to be asked. To start off; were members of the surgical team experienced and competent enough to carry out this complex and specialised operation?
Was carrying out the procedure a medical necessity at this time?
Could expert oversight, even by way of telemedicine intra-operatum assistance have being a better approach in performing this procedure?
Unless we ask and obtain answers and ensure probity, Ghanaians will suffer from these types of medical mishaps. Good medicine should be made to trump medical adventurism.

Well said Amecole. Lets call a spade a spade and stop being emotional about this. To put it bluntly, it was a bungled attempt at advanced surgery which we are simply incapable of doing. We shall be able to do such surgery in future when our healthcare system is of an acceptable standard but definitely not now. Poor attempt at international recognition by KATH.

AS MUCH AS WE CONGRATULATE OUR PROFESSIOAL DOCTORS,WE KEEP ASKING OURSELVES:- WERE THE DOCTORS AWARE THAT THE UNFORTUNATE TWINS SHRE CERTAIN ORGANS IN COMMON eg. INTESTINE AND A HOLE-IN-HEART?? WAS IT PROPER TO OPERATE SUCH TWINS UNDER SUCH CONDITIONS?? IF OPERATION WAS SUSPENDED FOR SOMETIME DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES, WHY THEN UNDERTAKE SUCH DELICATE SEPARATION ON A WHOLE-IN- HEART 'JOINED' PATIENTS?? WE AS LAYMEN CAN CLEARLY SEPARETE TWO OR MORE OBJECTS BUT WHEN IT COMES TO HUMAN LIVES, I BET YOU, PROFFESIONALISM AND COMPETENCY AS DOCTORS/NURSES OUGHT BE EXHIBITED ACCORDINGLY. WE SAY BRAVO! WATCH AND STUDY OTHER MEDICAL EXAMS CRITICALY NEXT TIME FOR A VERY SUCCESSFUL AND DESIRED GARGANTUAN ACHIEVEMENT.KWAME,COME BACK AGAIN.......
