We have lost the Volta and may soon add the little population of the North because of some unguarded comments by Agyeman and co - so where are we headed in a system of governance where numbers matter???

No census in Ghana's history has ever shown Akans to be a majority in Ghana.
Yet NPP and Akan tribalists keep believing and saying this.
Also Akans are not monolithic as we all know. Many Fantes who along with Asantis are the only two nationally significant ethnic groups, are deeply anti this Akan political project you seem to be cheer leading.
NDC won the Central, Western and BA regions all of which are predominantly Akan. So NDC could claim to be just as much Akan as the NPP.
Was President Mills not a Fante Akan ? What about Vice-President Amissah-Arthur ?
Your evident political tribalism is seriously flawed and will forever remain so.
There have been about 12-13 elections in Ghana since the early 1950s. The NPP or Danquah Busia tradition has only won three - 1969, 2000 and 2004. Most independent analysts would cancel out 1969 since the then CPP were banned from taking part because they could and would have won.
NPP have in fact always been a minority party in Ghana. jB Danquah lost every election he stood for.
Please do not just take my word for it !
All the Ghana census statistics , every ten years since 1950, are publicly available.
So do go back to educating yourself before coming here to preach your crapology about an Akan majority in Ghana.

The NPP can not and will never be an Akan party; it could at best be tagged as a-thre-ethnic centered part -asante, akyem and kwahu. Take Techiman which is supposed to be the cradle of the Akan civilization for instance, the NPP doesn't have a single seat there and I believe the people there despise the NPP more than they despise poison. The NDC won most majority seats in the Bono area than the NPP, even the NDC won in Busia's hometown Wenchi on the presidential side. So the notion that the NPP is an Akan party is tenuous and therefore untenable.

"Take Techiman which is supposed to be the cradle of the Akan civilization"
The ancient Adanse kingdom, which is now a state of Asanteman, is a far far older settlment of the Akan people than Bono. Takyiman is not even a Bono, but a Fante founded city. The Akan people of the Bretuo/Tena clan (i.e. Mampon, Gyamase etc.), the people of the Asona clan (i.e. Offinso, Ejisu, Akyem-Abuakwa) etc. have no tradition of settling in Takyiman. They trace their tradition as far as present day Ghana is concerned back to Adanse. The Bono came to meet other Akan people (mainly of the Agona clan) when settling in Manso (i.e. Bono-Manso). How can you claim to be the first Akan civilisation, when you came to meet other Akan people, people whom you displaced when you became more powerful?
"the NPP doesn't have a single seat there and I believe the people there despise the NPP more than they despise poison."
No, wonder when their leader is a NDC crony. How else do you explain, that when the Takyimans killed the Offumanhene together with his entire family and burnt down his palace, the then P/NDC did not do anything? Oh I guess, because Offumanhene was an Asante. Needless to mention, they also didnt do anything, when the Takyimans attacked the Tano-Subin towns killing innocent citizen. Even the Wenchihene, who is of a much older Bono dynasty than Takyimanhene and refused to denounce the Golden Stool of Asanteman. Once told the Takyimanhene to stop his anti-Asante nonesense.

I don´t think you need to waste your time on this tribal bigotwho opens his mouth before he thinks. As to where they have such fallacy as to Akans being a majority tribe in this country, only God knows. If this chaff has any sense in his twisted brains, he would have known that, the so called Akan hegemony that they are promoting is very limited to Ashanti And Eastern region, and especially those who belong to that tribal party,NPP.Just look at the number of votes the NDC won in those two regions of Ashanti/Eastern? This also shows that,it is not everybody who is in line with their dirty tribalism. They will surely contiue to suffer for it. I am proud to be Akwapim, and will never ever dream of being Ashanti or Akyem. I wish they would stop using "Akans" "Akans" This is the problem that confront the rest of civilized Akan groupings in this country. When Akufo Addo played it and it backfires in his face, one would have thought that these illiterate rats would have learnt something from this-but as have always been the case, they are still living in the stone age. "Yen Akanfou" Is Bono,Central and Western not Akan ethnic groupings? Why did´t they vote for Akan candidate?

Who are the Easteners? Do you think all people of Eastern region are Akyems? For instance, New Juaben (Koforidua) is part of Asanteman. Even the Nifahene of Akyem-Abuakwa (Asiakwahene) is an Asante royal and ancestral brother of the Asantehene. If the truth is to be said, then the people of Akadewaso, Moseaso, Gyegyeti(Jejeti),Enyiresi, Asaman Tamfoe, Mamanso, Kankang, Abekwoase and many other places in that region are Asantes. When did for instance, the people of Asamankese become Akyems? They are Akwamus (our Asante brothers).Do you think Asanteman only consists of Asante region? No, its transcends regional boundaries! It consists of places in the Eastern region like New Juaben, places in the Volta region like Worawora, most areas of Bono-Ahafo region (formerly Western Asante region) and many other places. By the way, when did Volta region become an Ewe region. Ewes are the minority in that region (at least in the northern part of the Volta region). There are many Akan states, even Asante states in that region. How do you think names like Worawora, Nsuta or Oseikrom (Jasikan) came about?
Since, when do we have electins based on regions? The Asante region, in particular Kumase has the largest population density. If the whole of the Asante region+another region was to vote for a presidential candidate, it would be more than enought to obtain absolute majority. Why do you think, this misguided Nkrumah wanted to reduce voting power of Asantes? He tried to hive off a significant portion of our territoriy, but had to realize, that neither he nor any government had the power to do so. Therefore he shamefully went in for the political option.
Akuapems must show unreserved gratitude to the Akyems! If, it was not for the Akyems; the Akuapems, Lartehs, Kropongs, Ga`s etc. would have never overcome their overlords the Akwamus.

Go back and learn your history well. This clearly exposes you as not a person of the NPP, but somebody else. In any case the time when leadership was considered for those who initiated the party is over. Twenty years on the time has come for openess and merit. No matter where a person comes from, as long as he is a member of good standing and can prove his stature, there is no reason he/she cannot be in leadership positions in the party. This so called Agyeman is a hoax and if a person very naive and probably stupid in his thinking.

It is interesting when people try to sound posh, elitist and aristocratic. Kwesi, it is left-of-centre inclusive, 'tribal-blind' and all-embracing parties that win elections these days not so-called conservative parties. You have not also defined what your brand of conservatism actually means.
Please note that the population dynamics of Ghana and most other African countries do not favour the typical splits in political ideologies and thoughts you see typically in Britain and the US and even in those countries, political parties which fail to 'realign' to reflect the mood of the country often lose, a classical case being the recently held US elections where the Republican party incurred heavy losses including the presidential ballot.
Social Democratic parties have greater appeal and certainly in the Ghanaian context, my reading of the political vibes and landscape is that a 'post neo-colonilialist and 21st Century' "Nkrumaist Philosophy" currently is more appealing as evidenced by the so-many who claim that alignment including the NDC.
Think what would happen if all these parties were to unite. They will provide a broader national coalition and probably show the NPP for what it truly is if what you describe as the party's philosophy and leaning is to be believed. I suspect (and hope i am right) many in the NPP would disagree with your version of the party. I would hate to see Ghana descend into a single party monopoly but NPP with guys like you threatens the very foundation of our democracy and if people like you had much to do with that party, it is in danger of long term marginalization and irrelevance except through constant media-based cries of 'unfairness'. You need a serious rethink!

You have just confirmed why Ghanaians are wary of voting for NPP. It's foundamentally Ashanti/Akyem party. Any wonder the rest of the Akans are not enthusiastic to put NPP back into power. Do not bring the USA into your demented mindset. Obama was able to garner white votes to put him twice in the Whitehouse. What makes you think America will support your myopic worldview?
I don't blame you. Your flagbearer uttered 'hen Akanfuo' and all 'die be die' to mob-up ethnocentric partisan emotions among party supporters. Whatmore, if one of your leaders was so callous enough to incite Akans to kill Ewes and Gas, then how will NPP be ever considered a National party?. If the Northner amongst you can only be relegated to play a second fiddle to your tribal nonsense, then I'm afraid NPP is not a party that Ghanaians want.
Mr. Victor Owusu made his infamous statement that " The Ewes are inward looking people" Could he actully be accusing the Ashanti/Akyem elements in the Ghanaian society? Why will the brongs, Fantis or Nzemas not wholeheartedly enbrace Danquah-Busia philosophy? Because it is not all inclusive. Hope with this erroneous mentality NPP stays in limbo for ever- until they see the light.

Kwasi Osei Agyemang has come out with a "trinity" classification of the structure of our great party wihich is quite revealing. While I agree with him that we are conservatives who play by leadership layers of the party, I strongly do not agree with him that the presidential candidacy will be denied a moslem who gets there purely on merit. It is true that Ghana is Christian and Akan dominated, but Ghanaians will vote for any presidential candidate they believe can deliver as examplified in the election of President Limann who was neither a Christian nor a Moslem and also from a minority tribe (Sisala) in Ghana. The fact that the NPP has always chosen a Northern running mate just fulfils the unwritten agreement at the formation of the party in 1992 that if the presidential candidate in from the South, then the running mate should be from thr North and vice versa. Given the religious harmony that has always prevailed in Ghana, religion was not part of this agreement even though the Moslem Association Party (MAP) was one of the political parties that formed the United Party (UP) that gives us our tradition.

Funny how some of you think one party ruling forever will ever be good for this country. It only goes to show how short sighted and unintelligent some of you are. NDC to rule forever....who loses? You grandchildren so wise up ...
