You have confounded yourself and conflated two separate "figures" to form the gist of an article that supposedly exposes inaccuracies in a court petition, but more particularly shows your own copious inanity. Let me break it down quite simply for you:
Your first premise that an obvious typographical error is enough to invalidate a petition to the court, or shows some malignant intent; on the part of the plaintiff, to deceive the honorable Supreme Court,is flat-wrong. Even if it was germane to the import of the case it is easily remedied.
There is no legal premise that a typographical error rises to the false bar you assert in this rather obtuse statement that "In legal matters of this sort, once factual errors appear in claims made by a litigant, it creates very serious credibility problems".
Cases end up in court, so that facts can be adjudicated and the veracity of one reality properly considered against other extenuating circumstances. A typographic error does not change the evidence offered about some rather lame circumstances, where differing data was published on a website by the EC.
The merit of the case, by both the NPP and in your article, is all grounded in ludicrous assertions about errors in numbers reported. The actual numbers will eventually be sorted out, so nothing will ever change the actual wining votes cast and which has been certified with a NDC win.
The other bulwark and underpinning of the salient points to your article is even less cogent. Your contention, which is not even coherently stated in the excessive verbiage and won't matter in deciding the petition, is that two numbers given by the petitioner, or respondent, do not reconcile and add up to an appropriate total.
The only problem is that you are wrong in not recognizing the one figure is for REGISTERED VOTERS and the other is for TOTAL VOTES CAST. I do not know out of all the votes cast just how many may have been invalidated. So there is a further category of votes which mattered to the outcome of the election.
Those should be the only ones in dispute that could change the outcome of the court petition:
TOTAL NUMBER OF VALIDATED VOTES.
Here is where you err in your article. I quote you:
"Now, dear reader, another factual error here as stated in the NPP's petition. Add up these figures and you will get 10,995,262, which is exactly what the Electoral Commission posted on its Web site, not this 14,158,880 that the NPP stated in its petition."
The two figures belong to two distinct categories, as I have stated above, and you compound the stupidity of all this frivolous posturing about the "alleged fraud" with even more mendacity and falsities.
Do not obfuscate the issues with meaningless and lengthy harangues that comically exposes your blatant inability to see your own mistakes.
Should the fact that you mixed up the two categories and disparaged one party to the suit make you a liar? Did you grossly misrepresent the facts?
What is the motivation for your insidious action?
Do you see how in this court of public opinion you can also be judged on the merits, or frivolity of your assertions, based on other than just facts?
Your facts are baseless and groundless!! Your motives are what we interrogate now.
Please refrain from other mindless polemics and articles, because your paymaster may only further seek to inflame passions. You will not change any outcomes, but you do prolong the animated and palpable tension that has characterized the discussions.
That sort of manipulation of emotions could ultimately lead to violence by impassioned and unthinking people.
Thank you.

Asante/Akyem Tea Party of Ghana. This racist group that sprang up when Obama won the election in US. It gave a shock wave to those racial elements in the society who thought a “Black/colored” could not become president of the US. It is the same way these Asnte/Akyem terrorists think. “The president must come from Asante/Akyem, if not we don't accept the result.” It has been NPP history since inception of Ghana independence. It happened in 2008. Remember? Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP wanted to go to court. This time again. The results were rigged. Rigged? What were your own polling agents doing, dancing “palogo”, “kete”, or Nana gave them some of his precious “powder” and “leaves” to inhale. May be. Who knows! When will these Asante/Akyem learn that Ghana is in the twenty-first century and anybody from any background, tribe, race, can win election so long as the party is inclusive of all tribes and race. Your racist party will not win any election in Ghana again until you change. Instead of whining and destroying property isolating your party more, sit down and do soul searching what went wrong that Ghanaians rejected Asante/Akyem Tea Party. I guess that will help NPP. But since there is no intelligent person amongst these NPP Asante/Akyem Racist Tea Party, they will keep on whining. Like the Republican Party in the US, majority are illiterate so is the NPP Asante/Akyem and they make the most noise.

Bokor, please do not kill yourself with pent-up anger against Nana Akufo Addo. You do not have any personal interest in the matter the NPP that has raised with the Supreme Court, unless perhaps Mahama has promised you an ambassadorial position in Washington. Whether the figures the NPP has "cooked" will stand up to the rigour of interrogation by the Supreme Court or not, just keep your cool and let the wise men and women look at the matter and decide. You are boiling over like the fool who collapsed and died before his favourite boxer could even get into the ring because he disliked the other boxer. In deed you are behaving like a fool by gloating over the petition submitted by Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP. Leave everything to the judges of the supreme court. It will not take long before they sit on the matter and make a decision. If you have high blood pressure, please Bokor my humble advice to you is that calm down. Do not kill yourself.

Bokor, your lack of intellection shows in this contradictory arguments based on the quoted statements below!
You contradict yourself here: for one thing you state that the courts would not deal with the NPP's case, and for another, you want the NPP to prove its case. So how do you expect the NPP to prove its case?
"We have had good cause to posit arguments that the NPP’s lawsuit at the Supreme Court won’t be determined solely on the figures and documents that are contained in the petition filed by the party’s National Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, last Friday. That is why we have cautioned the party’s followers not to be optimistic of victory.
We have also drawn attention to the fact that the NPP has the onerous burden to prove its allegations and that doing so will call for more than what the so-called documentary evidence entails."

Ooh geez!! Where shall I start? Hmmm.. how about apologizing for your verbosity*.. LOL!!..I did not quite get what kind of animal a verbous is. haha!
Holy!! You think I'm an NPP tribal folk? Scary thought.. haha!!
I'll educate you on the fine points of law. Let's begin by resoundingly debunking your simplistic notion that the petition before the Supreme Court is either a "personal or civil" suit, to be decided on CREDIBILITY.
It is a constitutional prerogative that is being tested at the Court; about the legitimacy of a quasi judicial entity, the Electoral Commission, to be an independent judge, arbiter of facts, and issuer of the final certification of the outcome, in the national elections results.
In this constitutional case before the Ghana Supreme Court some factual determinations will have to be made.
The veracity of the evidences is what will weigh more heavily in the considerations that will go towards the rendered verdict.
The faults of typography and ambiguities in written, or oral positions are often what makes the Supreme Court the final arbiter in an argument over legislative documents and law. So the credibility of the evidences, or the petitioners, will not matter in that situation.
A well crafted submission may be more helpful if itself is without errors and omissions that would make matters more complex to resolve, and may be prejudicial to elucidating the issues, but it will not detract from the core arguments.
Sometimes laws can create unintended conflicts and need to be interpreted by the Courts. Remember the primary role of the Courts is not to make laws, which is the function of the legislature (parliament), but to administer justice, and if necessary interpret the legislative intent, in cases where there is an inherent conflict in the law itself.
The court may take numerous approaches when deciding cases where the jurisprudence is sought to settle and resolve ambiguities; because the facts can be construed in a conflicting way, due perhaps to some typo, or misconstrued phrasing in the letter of the law.
That is when the concept of defacto and de jure are pertinent. Another very important concept that may be considered is if there will be an irreconcilable harm done; in a case that is fait accompli.
It is why often a court is asked to issue an injunction to freeze things in place while facts are decided.
There is no petition to forestall the inauguration of the President, by an injunction; so that in itself suggests that the Supreme Court of Ghana will affirm the decision of the Electoral Commission to certify the NDC candidate as President and for him to be sworn in by the Chief Justice of the same Supreme Court that the case is before.
I will copy some reference material to explain each of those term and concepts I mentioned above:
www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_jure
De jure (in Classical Latin de iure) is an expression that means "concerning law", as contrasted with de facto, which means "concerning fact". The terms de jure and de facto are used instead of "in law" and "in practice", respectively, when one is describing political or legal situations.
In a legal context, de jure is also translated as "concerning law". A practice may exist de facto, where for example the people obey a contract as though there were a law enforcing it, yet there is no such law. A process known as "desuetude" may allow de facto practices to replace obsolete de jure laws. On the other hand, practices may exist de jure and not be obeyed or observed by the people.
www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_facto
De facto (English pronunciation: /diː ˈf?ktoʊ/, /deɪ/,[1] Latin pronunciation: [deː ˈfaktoː]) is a Latin expression that means "concerning fact."
In law, it often means "in practice but not necessarily ordained by law" or "in practice or actuality, but not officially established." It is commonly used in contrast to de jure (which means "concerning the law") when referring to matters of law, governance, or technique (such as standards) that are found in the common experience as created or developed without or contrary to a regulation.
When discussing a legal situation, de jure designates what the law says, while de facto designates action of what happens in practice. It is analogous and similar to the expressions "for all intents and purposes" or "in fact". The term can also be used in the context of conducting activity as a "matter of course" e.g. copying an individual on an email de facto.
www.en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fait_accompli
fait accompli
From French fait accompli (?an accomplished fact?), from fait (?a fact?) + accompli (?accomplished?).
fait accompli (plural faits accomplis)
An accomplished fact, something that has already occurred; a done deal.

This might all be prolix to you, but it is well intentioned to improve you education on concepts of law that are best left to lawyer minds and not some buffoon getting cheered on in their vacuous and vitriol-ridden articles. It serves no purpose to intimate that the petitioners in the case have massaged the facts and will lose, not on the merits of their case, but through faults in their credibility.
Facts do not lie. People do. The case will be decided on the facts and the lies, if any, will be conveniently ignored by sane judicial minds. Use some sanity and accept the Fait Accompli.. LOL!! :)
Thank you.

Everybody knows NPP has NO real case, They don't have anything serious worth our attention but we would still have to be on guard because the supreme court will have to answer why they send such an overly flawed petition to the EC. Didn't they read the petition NPP sent. If the supreme court can ignore such flaws, then we have to be on guard and insist the right things is done in protecting the laws of Ghana.
