The cost of the canal from the sea to Kumasi has not been mentioned yet. My doubt is the dual carriage road from Accra to Kumasi which has taken over half a century to construct. So how long do you think it will take to build STK? If any purpose should be mentioned to build it, I suggest rather building a canal from the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso to flow to the Northern and Upper regions. This could be used to irrigate that part of the country which is our bread basket, instead of the yearly floods which occur anytime the floodgates of the dam is opened when it is about to reach its maximum level. This should have garnered much support instead of STK. A fast railway system as proposed by Dr. Thomas Mensah will serve better purpose than STK. It will also transport goods. faster.
It is good to dream big but the actual sea to Kumasi will be about 160 miles long and only AI can calculate the cost and duration to build.
