Ghanaian gospel songstress Mabel Okyere who is currently having her song as one of the few gospel songs trending in the year 2016, has expressed her sentiments in the gospel fraternity and her music career.

In an interview with Flex newspaper pertaining to her music career, she said she released her debut album titled Biribi Hia Me three years ago which did quite well in the market especially Kumasi and other parts of Ghana.

“I am currently promoting my latest song titled Me Wo Jesus on my second album titled Me Wo Jesus which has six songs including : Me Wo Jesus, Me Were Mfiri Da, Wu Jesu, Wa Hyira Me all produced by Dan Bassey released in February, 2016,” she said.

Asking her opinion about the gospel fraternity, she said: “I believe there is competition in everything that we do as humans but when working for God, there is no need to be in a competition with anyone. Some people have taken it as a battle, fighting and bad-mouthing against each other.”

“There should not be a competition between gospel artistes when it comes to the work of God. We should also bear in mind we are doing for Christ and not for individual gains. Some artistes even wish the downfall of others, so that they get the glory,” Mabel added.

Rather she noted that they need to prop up each other because aside the fact that there is a business aspect of what they do as musicians, they should also not forget about God.

“I expect all Gospel artistes to see each other as a brother and sister so that we can all promote the genre. If we come together, we can help the kingdom of God because unity is strength,” she noted.

When asked about her secret as an artiste who has been in the music scene for three years and released two albums, Mabel Okyere, responded that: “The bible said – if God doesn’t proclaim you to become what he wants, man cannot do anything. My covert is God because all my potency comes from him.”
