We need a national entertainment policy. At least 6 out of every 10 movies, songs or TV series played on our TV stations, radio stations and entertainment centres should be Ghanaian owned and Ghanaian produced and a reasonable amount of money should be paid for them which is proportionate to the profit that the establishment generates. However no amount of money whatsoever should be paid for the foreign movies, songs and TV series because it would have a negative effect on our GDP or GNI.
Secondly no advert shall be shown or played on our media (print, TV, radio) unless it was produced entirely by a wholly owned Ghanaian advertisement agency. The celebrities and songs used must be wholly Ghanaian and royalties shall be paid for them.
Many Ghanaians can remember popular TV shows like Ultimate paradise, things we do for love, Osofo Dadzie, I told you so, Master Richards, the road to Kukurantumi, by the fire side, Dr Paa Bobo songs etc
For so long there has been poverty of ideas and lack of will. We must from henceforth see a change.
