Ada East win 75TH MTN Asafotu Fiami festival gala

Ada East district has won this year’s annual MTN Asafotu Fiami festival football gala competition held at the Big Ada Presby Park to mark the climax of the 75th anniversary of celebrations of the annual fiesta.
They beat newly created Dangme East (Ningo – Prampram district) 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the grand finale to lift the MTN sponsored trophy and cash price after having also seen off Ada West 4-3 on penalties in their first knock out game.
In the 3rd place decider, Dangme West (Dodowa district) triumphed over Ada West, 3-5, also on penalties.
In an interview, the district sports organizer and the coordinator of the gala, Mr. Darlington E.N. Debrah aka Flash, praised the main sponsors MTN Ghana and supporting sponsors Coca Cola who donated Burn Energy drinks for the games for their sponsorship packages towards the gala competition.
He congratulated the winners – Ada East district – and all the participating teams; Ada West, Dangme West and Dangme East for the great football skills exhibited and urged all the players to take their training serious.
Representative of MTN Ghana who was there to witness the game and to present the trophy said he was so impressed about the level of football talents in the four districts and called on the handlers of the national youth teams to extend their scouting for national team players to these districts since there are equally good players in the these districts.
He also praised the organizers especially Mr. Darlington E.N. Debrah, the district sports organiser and the supporting partners Coca Cola for assisting to organize a very nice and competitive tournament.
Nene Tetteh Kake Peemi (I), Youth development Chief for Ada and an aspiring Independent Parliamentary candidate for Ada East constituency was also there as a special guest of honour and also advised the youth in both districts to take their studies and sports seriously.
Black armbands were worn by all the teams as a sign of respect for the late President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
In a warm up match before the main competition Denart Soccer Academy U-12 side beat Real Ada Academy 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The one day gala competition was organised by the Ada district sports authority and sponsored by MTN Ghana and supported by Coca Cola who donated Burn energy drink for the games and attracted over thousand spectators to the Big Ada Presby Park to catch a glimpse of the finest footballers in the Dangme districts.
