Top singer Amoo pushes Asamoah Gyan on

When Black Stars top striker Asamoah Gyan decided to go into music, many people did not understand the reason why he chose to sing with his old time friend Castro.

Yours truly can reveal that whilst some people want the Sunderland striker to quit music and take to football alone, others want him to combine the two and make the very best out of his God-given talents.

Nii Nartey Commordore, one of the popular singers in Africa, in fact, one of the sweetest voices that God has blessed Ghana with told yours truly that he would never discourage Asamoah Gyan to display his skills and talent on any day.

“Music is good for mankind, and why should we stop Asamoah from exhibiting his talent? We must thank God for a character like Asamoah Gyan and give him all the support if he can do it. I will push him to go to the very top if I had my way. I am very glad he is the first person to combine sports and music,” he said.

According to Commodore also known as Amoo, Asamoah’s dance alone has placed him in a special position for the media, and the fans love to see him score and dance.

He expressed that his dance has made him the players’ favourite at Sunderland and he must sharpen that skill and go on to make more news.

Now a Sunderland fan due to Asamoah’s presence at the English side, Amoo who has played many gigs in Europe stressed that Asamoah Gyan is a special specie of African footballers and must be allowed to sing and dance at his free time.

“I know the training is hectic and strenuous, but let’s allow him if he can do it. I see Asamoah as very special and a great entertainer. Do you know football is also entertainment” he quizzed.

Nii Nartey Commodore was the lead singer of the Fish Band. He also played for Sika Band, before going solo to sing copyrights and manage the First Class Band which is the resident band of Royal Rochester Hotel.

His voice has always been a source of debate as he can sing in different dialects and voices. He has also made many hits with Amaar Pinto of Marriots Band fame and still going stronger.

He hinted that if he had his own way he would do a hit with Asamoah and Castro, however all depends on time.

“We love to make people happy, and that is why we sing to cheer up people who are sad. Music is good, it consoles the soul and shakes the body, that’s why we dance to good music,” he added.

Asamoah Gyan was Ghana’s top star at the 2010 African Cup and World Cup competitions. He was among the best strikers and his exploits earned him the BBC African best footballer of the year, runner-up to Samuel Etoo for the 2010 CAF African Footballer of the year and he crowned the 2010 season with the prestigious Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Sportsman of the Year award.

Though Nii Nartey Commodore is yet to grab an award that is internationally recognized, he believes he is one of the sweet voices of Africa and very excited to sing not only in Ghana but abroad of whites to dance.

He wished Asamoah Gyan all the best for his foundation which was recently announced and all Ghanaian professionals to put up their best performances.

He also wished the Black Stars well to qualify for the 2012 African Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“I can foresee Ghana and Brazil at the finals of the 2014 World Cup and for the result, anything can happen,” he stressed.
