Maame Lucy, the gospel music chameleon

It’s a brand new year and we are seeing waves of new musical talents flood the Ghanaian music scene especially in the gospel sector. Well Ghana Music.com is proud to announce to our numerous dedicated fans that Maame Lucy is the artiste that has stood out tall so far.

Her music is infused with a deep love for Christ that permeates through her choice of meaningful lyrics and uplifting melodies.

While on the busy working schedules Maame Lucy took some time off to answer our questions about her career and share with us the great works God is doing in her life and career.

“I see Maame Lucy as a singer, songwriter, performer, an advocate for youth, and a mother who cares for all”, that’s how best define her.

Maame Lucy will soon be known for her works in the contemporary gospel music realm as a true Christian who has incorporated more than ten rhythms into her album or to be precise her songs.

Thematically, Mama Lucy has delivered an album project that will bring more people to the Lord’s side anytime they hear it.

Maame Lucy’s songs are ones that can be easily attracted by both Christians and non-Christians audience.

Ghana Music.com met up with Maame Lucy and what is so great about her is that she is downright witty, talented and down to earth.  Read on.

Ghana Music.com: Out of all the holy artistes that are out there, what do you bring that makes you stand out amongst them?

Maame Lucy: First of all, I will boldly say that the Holy bible says that we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God and therefore I do not think that we have a Holy person on earth.  It is very well known that Jesus Christ, son of the living God is the only one who can be called Holy.  I try to do good so that my life can reflect that of Christ, so in short I am like any other artist, by living an exemplarily life, doing what is expected of a good Christian.

Ghana Music.com: How difficult is it for you to come up with a concept for a song?

Maame Lucy:  By having a good encounter with God, the Holy Spirit directs you to write meaningful lyrics which tells the world that the concept of my song is really from God.  A very good example is the “Psalms of King David”, the concept of his Psalms are all heart warming and very empowering. That tells you that he has a good encounter with his maker.

Ghana Music.com: How do you respond to all the controversy and debate about juju in gospel or gospel music is all about money nowadays?

Maame Lucy: Interesting, I believe that it’s all a cliché, there are so many ways that people can deter you from what you love to do and what you enjoy.  People like to discourage people. If you believe in God and know very well that it is a blessing that God have bestowed on to you, why do you have to let somebody who is creating fear in you stop you from doing what you love? I will go back to the bible, first Kings Chapter 18 verse 20 to the end, the story of Elijah and King Ahab, does that not tell you that we are serving a living God.

Then again, about people saying that people are doing it for money if that is what God have given you as your job or as what is going to earn you your daily bread, why do you have to let the saying of people bother you. King Solomon’s talent earned him so much money and wealth. Rather pray for the ones who are deterring you and bless them. Ask God to open their eyes and understanding to glorifying him (God) through music and the same people will call and bless you and praise God too.

Ghana Music.com: What can we expect from your new project?

Maame Lucy:  My expectation is to see that my fans enjoy what I have produced.  I also expect that the music will channel people to Jesus Christ and also it will be a blessing to people from all walks of life, and most of all it will draw more souls to the Kingdom of God.

Ghana Music.com: What is your favourite song on the new project?

Maame Lucy: I love all the songs.

Ghana Music.com:  What are you all about and what do you want to accomplish?

Through my music I would like to help the less fortunate and the under privileged.  I know I have a big task ahead of me that I would like to accomplish, and I trust and believe in God that he will definitely open the closed door for me to accomplish.

I have all kinds of melodies and all kinds of rhythms, I love to challenge myself and I know that music is for every one, and therefore I am drawn to all styles so that all people can enjoy.
