Akua Adubea Sings ''Momma Awurade So'

The seed of singing that Akua Adubea sowed at age nine has come true in the gospel circles to release her maiden album 'Momma Awurade So'. The 10-track album reveals her true commitment for Christ.

The album opens with 'Mewo Nyame Bi' which is reggae. The lyrics are inspirational and narrates the story of how God allowed His only son to die for our sins and concludes that society should be thankful to their Creator.

'Suro AIDS' is a very solemn song with deep lyrics that touch listeners instantly. The music begins on a slow note. This particular track lays emphasis on the realities of AIDS. It calls on society to be cautious since it is a deadly disease.

'Momma Awurade So', which is the title track comes with a cool meditative rhythm. Akua sings joyfully to thank the Lord for all He has done for her and stresses the need to be appreciative towards the work of God.

Still praising her maker, Akua sings 'Ghana-man Adesre' exalting God and saying a prayer for Ghana. The worship version of this song is the favourite of many Christians always putting them in a prayer mood.

Other enjoyable tracks on the album include 'Jesus', 'God is Wonderful', 'kae Bofo' and 'Thank You Jesus'.

Her album ends with 'Thank You Jesus' and instruments which are not meant only to entertain but also serve as part of the ministry work of Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Hope Congregation where she fellowships.

Speaking in an interview with Showbiz, Akua said she started singing at age nine in her church, and at age 10, started composing songs. "This is how the choir discovered my talent and advised me to lead the choir group and this marked the beginning of my career", she said.

According to her, the main aim of coming out with this album is to exhibit the God-given talent and also spread the gospel through singing.

Akua says it has not been easy coming out with this album. "My album passed through the hands of almost all producers without any successful outcome until my husband decided to be my producer".

"I am therefore grateful to God for my husband, to my manager Abeiku Turkson who has contributed immensely to the success of my album, Rev. Erasmus Odonkor, head pastor of Hope Congregation and all others who have helped me in devise ways", she added.

Akua Adabea was born to Mr. and Mrs. Offei some 30 years ago. She is a product of Adonten Secondary School, Presbyterian Training College and University of Education, Winneba.

Akua likes to sit quietly to gather new ideas to compose songs in her leisure periods. She is not only a musician but also a teacher by profession.
