Woman remanded for biting the right eye of a friend

Takoradi, Oct. 14, GNA - Florence Obiyaa, a 46-year old trader at the Takoradi Central Market, was on Thursday arraigned before a Takoradi Circuit Court for allegedly biting the right eye of an old friend, Faalila Abdul Rahimah.

She pleaded not guilty and is to re-appear on November 5, 2010.

Prosecuting, Sergeant Seth Ahelegbe said on August 4 this year, the accused was in a Taxi cab around Pipe Ano, a suburb of Takoradi, when she saw the complainant by the road side.

He said the accused called Faalila and started embarrassing her with insults.

Sergeant Ahelegbe said Faalila became confused and so decided to go to Obiyaa's shop near the Star Hotel to find out the cause of the insults.

He said at the shop, the situation degenerated into a quarrel and the accused attacked Faalila and bit her right eye. GNA
