[Video] Versatile Show: Meet Wanlov the poet, preacher...

Wanlov Wanlov

If only Ghanaians could look past his free show on the Delay Show, many would appreciate the immense gifts of Emmanuel Owusu Bonsu better known as Wanlov De Kubolor.

When Okyeame Kwame organised the second edition of his “Versatile Show” on Saturday 8 November 2014 at the National Theater it afforded the eccentric musician an opportunity to display another side of his being rarely acknowledged and appreciated.

Touching on corrupt officials Kubolor asserts: “you live in mighty fortresses guarded by underfed underpaid potential armed robbers”.

On stereotyping, he points out: “men tend to tense when they pass me, women tend to clutch their purses fervently… through their eyes, I see no I hear your judgemental thoughts… wee, cocaine … I have never taken a puff of a sniff or snuff or sniff in my life….”.

He adds I am only here because you are there, corrupt, greedy, purposely mis-educated, a slave, afraid….”.

On charlatans parading as men of God the Coz Ov Moni actor lashes: “the more damaged the church member, the more savage the pastor”.

For those who think they are living the highlife by eating fatty greasy meals and driving in air-conditioned vehicles, the FOKN BOIS member attacks: “always riding won’t park and walk to trim the waist”.

On those who don’t want to see beggars even when they are nowhere near their cars, the Romanian- Ghanaian enquired why a beggar on the street should make a so called comfortable person in his/her car uncomfortable?

On Kwame Nkrumah and those who claim to believe in his vision and ideology, Wanlov explains why the name of Kotoka, one of the officers used to overthrow the Osagyefo still holds. The ‘Smallest Time’ singer charges: “why do you not change the name of the airport… because you are self-saboteurs” he charges.

You can hate him or love him, but father of 6, Emmanuel Owusu Bonsu aka Wanlov the Kobolo has touched on topics many in the industry would shy from. It bears testimony to his free spirit and eccentricity. May the gods guide your path, so you reveal more of this side of your personality than your rod.

Enjoy Wanlov’s thought provoking performance!
