Two use tricks to steal mobile phone

Asamankese (E/R), Dec. 13, GNA - One of two friends who allegedly conspired by playing a trick on a student and succeeded in stealing his camera mobile phone has been granted a GH=A2 1,000 bail with a surety by the Asamankese Circuit Court.

Christian Tetevi, 18, a fitting mechanic, who pleaded not guilty will appear in court again on January 12 2008. His accomplice, Samuel Cudjoe, who is on the run, is being sought by the Police.

Police Inspector Kate Ogyiri prosecuting told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that on August 16, 2007 the two accused persons who were normally resident at Bawjiase turned up at Asamankese and hatched a plan to steal.

At about 1030 hours they got to the house of Agnes Quaye, a student and asked to be shown where one Kwadwo Armah lived. The Prosecution said Miss Quaye replied that she did not know him and directed them to check up from the next house. The accused persons pleaded that their bags be kept in the room of the student, who was then charging her Motorola mobile phone valued at GH=A2 140.

The Prosecutor said later when the student came out, Cudjoe pretended he wanted to collect something from the bag and, therefore, entered the room. The moment he came out of the room, he went out pretending he was going to urinate.

Moments later, Miss Quaye detected that her mobile phone had been taken away and raised the alarm. Tetevi took to his heels but was later arrested after a hot chase.
