Two mechanics remanded for stealing

Kumasi, July 12, GNA - Two young mechanics at Kumawu in the Sekyere East District, Osei Kwadwo alias "Kobo", 22 and Yaw Amankwah, 24, have been remanded by a magistrate's court at Effiduase for unlawful entry and stealing.

Osei pleaded guilty to the charges while Amankwah pleaded not guilty.

They would re-appear on August 6.

Mr Gideon Boateng of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Directorate told the Ghana News Agency that the accused broke into the house of one Ernestina Aidoo, a London-based businesswoman at Kumawu on March 29, this year.

He said they stole an Aiwa music system, 30 pieces of wax print, a large quantity of canned fish and beef, assorted plates and other personal effects.

Mr Boateng said the caretaker of the house, Miss Adwoa Frema who detected the theft reported the case to the Effiduase police and investigations led to the arrest of the two.
