Ghanaian artiste manager Nana Poku Ashis has commended rapper Sarkodie for his initiative to sell shares of his upcoming mixtape.

According to him, Sarkodie is one of the smartest musicians in Ghana.

On May 15, 2024, Sarkodie announced a collaboration with Opulous App to offer his fans the opportunity to own shares in his music. He also revealed that a portion of his new mixtape, #TheChampionshipMixtape, will be given to some lucky fans.

Reacting to the news on DayBreakHitz on Hitz FM on May 16, Ashis praised Sarkodie's strategic move, pointing out that the new initiative would appeal to business-minded individuals.

"Owning shares in one's company makes you a part owner of that company. What he is doing currently or right now is expanding his territories. Most of the time, musicians concentrate on their fan base internally, but I think he is trying to expand," he said.

"There are other people who are not much into the fun part of it but are very business-inclined. So, I'm sure this would also draw people to read more about him, research about him, and then see how best they could be a part of the business holdings that he's trying to share at this moment," Ashis added.

Ashis further lauded Sarkodie for taking advantage of the ruckus in the Ghanaian rap music scene to launch the project, as all eyes were on him.

He also expressed his wish for other artistes in the country to embark on similar ventures in the future.

"It's refreshing to see people being innovative in their ways of creativity. These are some of the kinds of things we want to hear, not the fighting and arguments we see every day," he commented.

"I think Sarkodie is one of the smartest musicians we have in this country. And if you study the brand Sarkodie, he knows exactly when to drop a pin for it to be loud," Ashis observed.

"And the way he consistently keeps the 'Sark Nation' along with him in whatever he does is a breath of fresh air. He should keep it up. We want to see more artistes venture into different endeavours," he concluded.
