The exhibition which features 15 artists from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, South Africa, Cote D'Ivoire, Wales, United Kingdom and Netherlands, has on display some of their handiwork including sculptures and paintings that depict the different cultures, practices and aspirations of their people.

The exhibition, which is also designed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Africa, is being held under the theme, "Diversity and Unity" and organised by the College of Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in collaboration with the French Embassy.

Opening the exhibition, Mr B. Offei Nyarko, Head of the Department of Painting and Sculpture, KNUST, said art being a universal language was not only an effective medium of communication among people of different backgrounds but could be used to revive most of Africa's heritage.

He pointed out that in this era of globalisation, it behoved on artists to co-ordinate their activities to enhance their work and bring out the best in them.

Mr Nyarko said it was high time such exhibitions were held regularly to promote and sustain intra-cultural harmony and good relationship between artists and the public and was hopeful that when held annually, the exhibition would enable the public to appreciate the work of artists.
