Regina Sings "Shuu Shaa"

Regina Atakora who lives in Germany has released her maiden gospel album titled Shuu Shaa (a strange title for a gospel album though) which according to her was given to the album because Shuu Shaa which cannot be found in any language, is the sound of the locomotive as it moves.

She explains that, Shuu Shaa refers to the fact that God has given the believer the strength to overcome the fear of Satan and his evil plans, the power to crush and run over him like the train does to all on its path.

Regina also believes that God uses music to reach his people and so gospel music lovers must always listen to the lyrics of the song to get the message.

Opening with the title track Shuu Shaa a criss cross rhythm reminiscent of Osibisa, the pair of Regina and husband Kofi Newton launch into a medley that sets the pace for what is to come.

Adom ahye no ma on track two is a reggae that enjoys a beautiful instrumentation and good sound quality though the lead vocal is a little low. But that does not affect the beauty of the song.

In Zigiya Tumuye sang in a northern dialect and Twi, the song kicks off with the voices of Regina and Kofi opening after which the other intruments join the voices in an Adowa-like tune, mid-tempo, danceable and very nice.

M’gyapadee and M’agya Nkyen are slow tunes which are followed by Anigye wo Yesu Mu an extremely good tune, vigorous fast-paced and also danceaple very appropriate for praise.

The tempo comes down briefly in the intro of Wadom Nti Na and then goes into a very beautiful lively song which brings out the best in the voices and the insrumention. The lead guitar solo though simple gives expression to the support given it by the subtle flow of the keyboard and voices. Wonderful song.

Yede Ose and Animounyam Hene complete the selection on the album on a soft note. All songs were composed by Regina and recorded and mastered in Germany. It is produced in Ghana by Top Image Consult and distributed by Despite Music Production.
