Read: Who wins this year’s BET Best International Act, Africa?

The 2014 BET awards is just some few days away and artists nominated from various parts of the world for various categories may be sitting on tenterhooks as a win will be a plus to their careers.

Today, I take a look at nominees for BET Award winner for Best International Act, Africa and their chances of winning the award. A win for Sarkodie will make it twice for him as he jointly won with Wizkid in 2012.

The nominees for this year’s Best International Act, Africa are Tiwa Savage from Nigeria, Davido from Nigeria, Sarkodie from Ghana, Toofan from Togo, Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania and Mafikizolo from South Africa.

With no disrespect to to their nominees, the very names among the nominees for this year that ring a bell are Davido, Tiwa Savage, Sarkodie and Mafikizolo.

Starting with Mafikizolo, the group took over the entire African continent with their hit single Khona which featured Uhuru and spent several weeks topping musical charts from all over the world. It is without doubt that, the colourful video to the song did some magic and appealed to the world more than any other video lately.

They won several awards in the year under review and their chances of winning is even boosted by the fact that the group has been announced as performers on the night. What else do you expect?

Next under my radar is Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage. Although nothing much to say about the singer, she has gradually warmed herself into the hearts of several people across the African continent dropping very amazing pieces. Her recent video even got the world talking as they believed it was too exposing keep her in the news. Her raunchy performances and exposing outfits also leave more to be said about her.

Talking of her chances of winning the award, it looks very slim to me although she just won the Best Female Performer at the MTV Africa Music Awards in Durban, South Africa. her chances of winning may be shared between herself and Davido as the Nigerian loyalty is just so great.

On to the Aye hitmaker, David Adedeji Adeleke who performs under the trade name Davido. If there is any artist on the African continent enjoying massive airplay at the moment, it is none other than this dude whose Aye track is the toast of many. Topping charts and adding a beautiful video to the song, his rise to fame has been very consistent as he has continuously dropped bangers after each other.

At the just ended MTV Africa Music Awards, Davido was the biggest winner as he picked up awards for the Best Male Artist and the Artist of the Year. He also picked up the best African Act at the Ghana Music Awards. Lets I forget, organizers of the MTV Africa Music Awards have a connection with the BET, hence a higher probability of winning.

Finally to my country man Michael Owusu Addo known as Sarkodie.

Although he has not been so vibrant and visible with regards to music in the year under review, Sarkodie’s brand has been explosive and widely seen as he shot very quality videos to most of his songs and dropped a thirty track album titled Sarkology. The album which featured several artists from across Africa got him the necessary mileage any artist would wish for although most of these artists were from Nigeria.

He has had several nominations in the upcoming Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Winning several awards at the latest Ghana Music Awards including Hiphop song of the year, Hiplife/Hiphop artist of the year, Best Rapper of the Year and topping it up with the Best Hiphop Artist of the Year award at the MTV Africa Music Awards, one is not certain who picks up the BET Award for Best International Act, Africa at this year’s even which comes off on the 28th of June 2014.

Who do you tip to win?
