Public Speaking Competition gains popularity in Western Region.

Sekondi, June 11, GNA- Fifteen Senior Secondary Schools in the Western Region would compete in the second edition of the Daniel Esuon-Gwira Memorial Public Speaking Competition on June 19, this year.

The Competition is organised by the National Youth Council (NYC) while Mr. Derek Donald Gwira, a Sekondi Lawyer is the sponsor.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sekondi, Mr. Emmanuel Papa Assan Regional Youth Coordinator said the competition is in memory of the late Esuon-Gwira, who was a lawyer.

Mr. Assan said each school would be expected to speak on a social, cultural, political or economic related topic. Prizes for the best schools include cash ranging from two million to 800,000 cedis; dictionaries, thesaurus and certificates. Lawyer Gwira said the competition is to make the students develop their public speaking skills, read more and enhance their involvement in social discussions.
