Pepsi Cola launches "Pepsi on the ball"

Accra, Nov. 8, GNA - Pepsi Cola Company on Wednesday launched a one billion-cedi promotion package that aims at rewarding its loyal consumers and also facilitates the celebration of Ghana's 50th Anniversary.

The company is giving out up to 50 pieces of pure gold bars each worth 20 million cedis, branded T-shirts and millions of free drinks as consolation prizes.

The promotion which starts on November 8, this year to March 31, next year was dubbed: "Pepsi on the Ball" and was part of the activities lined up by the company to reward its customers and to wish them a successful celebration of Ghana's Golden Jubilee.

Launching the promotion on Wednesday, the Managing Director of Pepsi Cola Ghana, Mr Charles Boakye Nimako said the aim of the promotion was to reward the loyal consumers who had sustained the company's existence over the years.

He said the promotion would feature football stars like Ronaldinho, Tierry Henry, David Beckam, and Ghanaian international stars like Black Stars Captain, Stephen Appiah, and Sulley Muntari. "We spent a big part of 2005 looking for the Pepsi Wanted Stars. Now that we've found them, let us go and find their teams and strike gold..." he added.

Mr Nimako explained that to win the gold bar the consumer had to match any of the Pepsi stars with the team that the star played for located under the corks of their favourite Pepsi products. The National Marketing Manager of the company Mr William Amponsah said consumers who would be lucky to win the flagship prize would have the option of trading the gold bar for 20 million cedis. He said the company chose gold because the country was preparing to celebrate its Golden Jubilee and that Ghana was known for its richness in gold.

Mr Amponsah said with the launching of the company's five-year promotional programmes in August 2005 the company had been able to bring unto the market various promotions like "THE PEPSI WANTED STARS", "FIDO DIDO ONETOUCH GIFT BLAST" and the latest "PEPSI ON THE BALL". He said that with those inventions the company sought to get its fair share of the soft drink market in Ghana. 08 Nov. 06
