Paapa Yankson’s death a blow to all musicians, Ghanaians – Bessa Simons

Ace musician Bessa Simons and onetime keyboardist with Osibisa band has expressed utter shock over the death of highlife legend Benjamin Paapa Yankson which occurred on Friday morning.

“Paapa Yankson’s death is a big blow to all musicians, highlife lovers and in fact all Ghanaians … We have lost a great person…” he lamented during a phone interview on midday news on TV3.

He revealed how he and some loved ones had planned to celebrate the legendary musician’ in a grand way after his 73rd birthday; only to be hit with such an unfortunate news.

Quizzed on what led to the late musician’s death, he indicated that he knew not the actual cause of his death though he was aware that Paapa Yankson had been sick for some time now.
