OPINION: Reschedule date for Ghana DJ Awards!

Unless it is a publicity stunt, with issues evolving this year’s Ghana DJ Awards; I think organizers of the event, Merqury Republic, should consider postponing the set date, February 22, 2014.

Although it may not go down well with the event’s organizers as well as accepted on a lighter note on the part of the nominees, entire public, I don’t think we (patrons) will prefer choosing disappointment over enjoyment should there be a repeated last minutes postponement as it happened at the maiden edition.

Issues evolving in this year’s event include the lambasting and unexpected revelation made by veteran broadcaster, Tommy Annan Forson to Flex newspaper that up to date, he has not received his Life Time Achievement plaque from the organizers of Ghana DJ Awards after its maiden edition on February 15, 2013.

Likewise a shocking description labeled by the founder of Ghana DJ Awards, Merqury Quaye’s very ‘tight’ friend, DJ Perfekt; on how ‘ridiculous’ the Awards scheme is for being nominated in the ARTISTE DJ OF THE YEAR prior to an unremembered name of show that he (DJ Perfekt), disc jockeyed along with a highlife band for Samini.

With all these lambasting and description coming from very close contributors to the partial success at the maiden edition of Ghana DJ Awards, I think organizers of the pending second edition of the DJs award should consider rescheduling the event slated for February 22, 2014 to probably sometime in March, 2014.

As par the Akan proverb, ‘etire nye brofre na ye apae mu hwe’ (the human head cannot be cut-open to know exactly the thoughts running through it), one cannot conclude that founder and Chief Executive Officer of Merqury Republic; Merqury Quaye is only being pretentious of his lack of knowledge about Uncle Forson’s 11 months old ‘locked’ Life Time Achievement award plaque.

And DJ Perfekt’s open teaching of the organizers their job to actually come again with his nomination in this year’s award scheme. Well, maybe that is a format being used by Merqury Quaye to calm and apologize to his bosom friend, DJ Perfekt for not gracing him after his tireless input and support at the maiden edition of his event, Ghana DJ Awards 2013.

For once in the history of award event organizers, nominees and the entire public may have to pardon and consider the organizers of Ghana DJ Awards, Merqury Republic who does not appear to be all set and prepared to host the event on the 15-days left to it scheduled date to a more suiting date to avoid a disappointing event occurring for the second time.
