My Dream Is To Fill The Appollo Theatre- Jacinta Oocansey

Hitherto this period, Ghana comedians just told dry jokes, but, currently comedy in Ghana has taken shape with comedians learning the art of cracking patrons with indepth research into the witty part of serious issues.
The industry has grown from the Kwaku Sintim Misa's generation to the DKB and Foster Romanus' generation.
Unlike other countries that have ladies challenging the men in comedy, the Ghana comedy industry is dominated by the male gender.
That notwithstanding, a young lady who représents the feminine face and breaking bounds in a male dominated industry is Jacinta Ocansey.
Her blend of pidgin english and english to create compelling witty content for patrons is just breath taking.One will Say her growing up in Nigeria could be a reason.
Jacinta cracks a full auditorium with issues ranging from family, relationship and politics to give patrons value for their money.
Although Jacinta had always dreamt of being an entertainer, Jacinta never dreamt of going into comedy.
"Comedy was never my thing. I always loved to entertain maybe as an actress or MC but I never thought of comedy."
However, she found herself in the industry and has been doing comedy for five years and is willing to make the best out of it.
As the only female in a male dominated industry, Jacinta believes her gender is never a challenge but rather a call to duty.
""My gender is not a challenge in any way. I rather see it as a plus but it scares me most times because it means I have a lot of work to do. Being me means that I have to stand out and that means a lot of hard work."
She noted that a major challenge in the comedy industry in Ghana is that "Ghanaians have not fully accepted standup comedy as part of our form of entertainment," but believes " It's better than before."
Jacinta believes she is ready to take the world by storm with a career in comedy and hopes to make a greater impact in the country and on the international stage.
"I've been doing comedy alongside studying so now I'm now ready to fully embrace it."
Jacinta is of the hope to take her comedy career to an international stage and is hopeful she will one day fill the Apollo theatre.
"Looking at filling up the Apollo theater ......ONE DAY!"
To stay relevant in a growing industry such as the comedy industry, the bubbly comedian believes putting God first in all her dealings does the magic for her and she intends to continue on that path.
Jacinta is also an MC and is hoping to develop a content for Télévision so the Next time You switch your TV set on You may see the beautiful comedian hosting a show.
"Asides comedy shows, Im also a professional MC. Just watch out! Who knows? U might be seeing a TV program from me soon Or I might start a church???????????? "
