Musical Concert to raise fund for Queens

Accra, Sept. 4, GNA - Joffi Promotion and Golden Kauri in conjunction with the Ministries of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) and Women and Children's Affairs would organise Mrs Uwa Hunwick's, award winning concert: "The Black Star" to raise funds for the national women's team, Black Queens.

A statement from the organisers said the concert, which would take place at the National Theatre from September 11 to September 14, would also feature musicians like Nana Quame and the Royal Dance Cultural Troupe.

The concert the brainchild of Kofi Painstil of Joffi Promotion and Actor David Dontoh of Golden Kauri was born out of their desire to give moral and financial support to the Queens to boost their morale during the FIFA Women's World Cup scheduled for the USA in September.

The organisers said with the support of Mr Kofi Portuphy, Abi Adatsi, Victor Nyacunor and Kofi Asamoah, all seasoned actors, in the Epic Productions in the 80's when the concert was first staged, a great show awaits audience on all four nights.

The organisers have also promised to create this tradition of artistic productions in support of national sporting teams to the benefit of the arts and sports so as to relieve government of some its burden.
