Meet Romeo Oscar Acquah

Romeo Oscar Acquah, a presenter and disc jockey, is among the few radio presenters who have been able to maintain their image on the music scene for a decade or so.

Romeo, as he is popularly called by radio listeners, is a powerful force on radio who likes to be referred to as a media personality because he is an entertainer as well as a radio host.

Currently at Kasoa-based Pink FM, Romeo hosts the ‘Mid Morning Show’ from Mondays to Fridays between 9am and 12pm and the ‘Pink Top 20 Countdown’ on Saturdays.

Anytime he is on air, without a doubt he keeps listeners enthralled and entertained throughout his show.

In a chat with BEATWAVES, he recounted his journey to Pink FM. He said he was initially at Biyak FM at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, where he hosted the ‘Mid Morning’, ‘Drive Time’ and ‘Biyak Countdown’ shows, as well as other programmes.

In 2006, he moved to Ahenema Radio. At Ahenema Radio, Romeo hosted the ‘Drive time’, ‘Mid Morning’ and ‘Omo Tuo Special.’

How did he make it to the tough Pink FM? Romeo disclosed that in 2008, he walked into the offices of Pink FM and spoke to the Chief Executive of the station, Gordon Goodman, about wanting to work with the station. Gordon Goodman, who saw potential in him, decided to give him a chance.

Romeo describes himself as a brilliant, young man who is outstanding, outgoing, with a loveable personality. He owes his success first and foremost to God. Aside that, he believes that he is at this stage in his life because of hard work and focus.

He also acknowledged that without his fans and listeners, his shows would not be a success and is therefore grateful for their support.

Romeo said what sets him apart from others in his profession is his desire to try out new things. This is what keeps listeners always tuned in to his shows.

Romeo Oscar Acquah is a presenter with a dream – a dream to become the best in his line of work.
