Media House Dupes Women

Officials of the Garden City Radio, a Kumasi radio station are tight lipped on allegations of stealing leveled against the organisation by two women Akuah Akyeamponmaa and Ama Amoanimaa, all residents of Atonsu a suburb of Kumasi The two have alleged that the station has stolen a diamond locket, a gold watch and a diamond ring and other jewellery with a street value of 6000 dollars

Narrating the incident to the Network Herald in Kumasi, the two said that their two sons Isaac Kwadwo and Kwadwo Boateng found a jewellery box stashed under wood slabs in an uncompleted building at Chirapatre estates near Atonsu whiles playing two months ago They said upon examination they found out that the box contained valuable jewellery made up of three ladies wrist gold watches, five gold rings, one big diamond locket, ten gold bracelets, ten big gold necklaces with Selina inscribed on one and other ornaments,

They allege that they sent the ornaments to the radio station for announcements to be made with the hope of finding the rightful owner. According to the women, an inventory was made by staff at the marketing department of the station and received by the Programmes Manageress Theresa Dogbe who asked them to go back to the station in two weeks for a feedback.

The women alleged that they returned two weeks later after three announcements had been made only to find out that the most valuable ornaments in the box were missing. When they questioned the authorities there about their observation, some marketing personnel told them that they were even lucky to have gotten half of the jewels back.

They were even told that if it had been some other radio stations or even the police, they wouldn’t have gotten a single jewel back. The two said they had intended to send the items to a different station but because most had been vanished from the box, they are waiting if they can recover them as promised them by the Programmes Manageress

Managers of the Garden City Radio however told the Network Herald that the officer in question was on vacation but efforts were still being made to get to the bottom of the issue. Already, an internal investigation has been instituted. The fear among residents of the Garden-City was that such incidents are becoming rampant at some radio stations and referred to a similar incident involving mobile phones and cash amounts, which the Garden City radio could not account for at the hour of reckoning.
