Mary-Ann Acolatse no more with TV3

TV3?s Director of News and Current Affairs, Mary-Ann Acolatse, has been shown the exit. Madam Acolatse was relieved of her post on Friday, sources tell enewsgh.com.

Reasons for the decision are not readily known except station sources tell us it is somewhat performance-related.

This website is also told that the station’s new owners, Media General Ghana Limited, were not pleased with the way some happenings in the newsroom was handled in the last few months gone by, one of such leading to the exit of Henry Herbert Malm.

In what became an exodus of sorts, the station lost some key staff this year, the two most recent being Malm and parliamentary and presidential correspondent Kojo Hayford.

Before returning to TV3 months ago, she had taken up positions as Head of News and Managing News Editor at Metro TV and Multi TV respectively.

Acolatse was brought back to the station by the new owners to as it were steer affairs in the newsroom. It was not meant to be, it has turned out.

With a nationwide penetration of a little over 70 per cent, TV3 remains one of the most-watched local channels in Ghana. The company began transmission on October 1, 1997.

Incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963, (Act 179), as a limited liability company on August 29, 1996, the company received its certificate to commence business on September 19, 1996. A Joint Venture Agreement was entered into by the Government of Ghana, Gama Media Systems, Gama Film Company and Sistem Televisyen Malaysia Berhad that same year.

In March 2005, TV3 became a subsidiary of Media Prima Berhad of Malaysia, when TV3 Malaysia transferred its shareholding in Gama Film Company to it.

Media General Ghana Limited acquired and took over its operations in September 2011.
