Man in Trouble for Selling School Land

Yaw Kwakye, a resident of Abrepo has appeared before the Kumasi circuit tribunal for allegedly defrauding one Attah Boakye, a trader at Manhyia to the tune of C12 million.

Prosecuting Inspector Afesi said in May this year the complainant was in dire need of a land to purchase when he came across Yaw Kwakye. He took him to the premises of Kumasi Girls' Secondary School and allegedly sold to him a portion of land for C12 million.

Based on assurances that the land belonged to him the complainant became convinced and paid the amount, Afesi disclosed.

The complainant he said went ahead to develop the land and upon a tip- off the headmistress of the school visited the scene to ascertain the truth.

On arrival at the site she asked the complainant to stop work. Sensing that something was wrong the complainant lodged a complaint with the Police who arrested the suspect. Although he pleaded guilty to the charge he said he collected only C3 million out of the said amount.

The Chairman of the tribunal G.V Senu upon his plea of guilty granted a bail of 10 million cedis with one surety.
