Man Gets 7yrs for Defilement

A Circuit Tribunal in Accra last Monday sentenced Solomon Kofi to seven years imprisonment with hard labour after he had been found guilty of defiling a ten-year old school girl in Accra. He was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Inspector E.T. Boison told the court presided over by His Justice Imoru Ziblim that on June 15, this year, the complainant detected that the victim was walking with difficulty and complained of abdominal pain. She asked her father to let her see a doctor.

Her father decided to find out the cause of his daughter's complaint and she said the accused, who is a close family friend, had lured her behind their residence in darkness and forcibly had sex with her.

A report was immediately lodged with the police and a medical form issued to the complainant to send the victim to the hospital for examination and treatment.

The accused was arrested and during the interrogation, he admitted his crime. The accused was charged to appear before the court after investigation.
