A key Member of Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGA)’s Communication Team Kwame Nsiah Apau known on stage as Okyeame Kwame has debunked the claim that the head office of the union in Accra is in a dilapidated state.

Last week Ghanaian Hip life artiste Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known in the showbiz industry as A Plus condemned the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) due to the current state of the headquarters office in Accra.

He said the building has been deprived of painting and other infrastructural activities. One of the stairs leading to the one of the offices, grasses is seen growing pretty well.

But responding to the accusation been leveled against the Union on Ashh fm Entertainment Zone last Sunday , Okyeame Kwame said the head office of MUSIGA is not bad as been speculated by A Plus and some critics.

“For the past one year I have not been at the office because am schooling but the last time I went there the office was not in a deprived or horrific state’’

According to him, the offices is in good shape, and was painted and refurbished at the time the government of Ghana allocated 20million Ghana cedis money to the creative arts industry.

“I will not slam my brother A plus may be he sees what I don’t see, however dirtiness is relative it can appear anytime but I can confidently say that an amount of money was taking from the 20 million cedis to paint and refurbish the offices across Ghana’’

Okyeame Kwame speaking as a guest on the show pointed out clearly that, all is not well at MUSIGA because section of their members have failed and refused to pay their dues for the progress of the union.

“On our records book we have 4,600 members but the number of MUSIGA members that pay dues are not up to 1000, Infact is not easy at MUSIGA we are much hungry.

How can we paint the building rapidly without members not paying their dues’’ he asked.

The Rap doctor told Nana Amoako host of the show that, the only avenue left for the union to generate money is when they issue visa recommendation letters to members who want to travel abroad.

He further rubbished the allegation made by CEO of Black Avenue Musik D-Black that the union has intentionally refused to release his royalties to him.

According to Okyeame , MUSIGA is not responsible of paying royalties to musician but rather GHAMRO.
