Lifestyle: How do you know they are good for you?

Not everyone who comes into our lives is meant to stay. Some are visitors, here today and gone tomorrow; some are loved ones, no matter how the journey gets, they stay glued to us.

The problem is how do you differentiate between a visitor and a loved one. How do you know someone is good for you? How do you know he or she is your life partner?

People are holding on to what they don't have to, while some are pushing away what they don't have to. If you are single and about to take a decision on your life partner, it’s worth taking some lessons from this message.

The bible says in Matthew 7:16 (NLV) "You will know them by their fruit. Do men pick grapes from thorns? Do men pick figs from thistles?"

The best way to know if something or someone is good for you is by looking at the fruit it produces in your life. If you are encountering a life that is full of mess, heartache, foolishness, drama, etc. then you need to get rid of that fruit. Nobody wants rotten fruit, only a fool would.

If it comes from God, it will be good, it will make you better, it will increase you and it will add to you; as said in Psalm 85:12 (ESV) "Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase".

Anyone you lose in your life is a visitor. No matter how much you loved each other, never hold on to that. Losing people is part of life; sometimes you let them go not because you wanted to, but because you had to, your very life depended on that release.

You don't need the other party’s approval to do this because what God has for you is only for you! Understand this, not everyone can go where you are going.

So for your own good stop watering things that were never meant to grow in your life. Stop watering relationships that have no roots in your life, stop making a visitor a permanent resident in your life. No matter how long you spend time watering this concrete in your life, sooner or later you will come to realize it will never grow. Act now for a late move will cost you a lot of pains.

In life, we sometimes hold on to things that keep us imprisoned, and sometimes what you are mostly afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free. In other words, we hold on to what kills us sometimes and let go of what will heal us.

In conclusion "Test everything and do not let good things get away from you" - 1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NLV)
