ICGC raises funds to support Children's Hospital

The International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) on Wednesday night held a gospel musical concert and charity fundraising in Aid of the Princess Marie Luis Hospital, popularly known as the "Children's Hospital."

The concert dubbed "Gold, frankincense and myrrh 2003," was aimed at raising money to support the hospital, which is in die need of some basic facilities to carry out its functions efficiently. Among the groups, which performed at the concert, on the theme: "For unto us a child is born," were the African Ensemble, Christian Storehouse, Karisma, King's Jubilee and the Philharmonic Choir of the ICGC.

Speaking at the function Dr. Estelle Afu, Director in Charge of the Hospital appealed to the public to donate generously to support maternal and child health services at the hospital.

She said the hospital, which was built in 1925, had not seen any major expansion since the last one in 1990 and called for sponsorship both in cash and kind from business concerns and well-meaning Ghanaians to help the patients who were mainly children.

Rev. Kofi Okyere, a Minister at the ICGC urged the congregation to show concern and love for the unfortunate children who were brought to the hospital for treatment.

He said the concert was expected to raise 50 million cedis, adding that further pledges could be paid to the "Central Aid Fund" at the Church office.
