The Minister-designate for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has expressed his admiration for Ghanaian dance artists Afronitaaa and Abigail upon the release of their audition clip for ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’

Afronitaaa, real name is Danita Yeboah, and her protégé, 7-year-old Abigail Adjiri, successfully represented Ghana on the international stage.

Their audition for the 17th season of the ITV competition was met with positive responses from both the audience and the judges, with their performance being described as breathtaking.

Their appearance on the show has been a source of national pride and has garnered attention and support from various dignitaries and the public alike.

Consequently, the minister-designate extended an invitation to Afronitaaa to visit his office, an event graced by her parents, deputy minister Mark Okraku-Mantey, and notable figures such as Amy Frimpong and Stephany Yamoah from Ghana's National Theatre and National Dance Company, respectively.

At the meeting, the minister-designate said he was deeply touched by the performance of the duo, describing it as an "extremely emotional" experience that brought him to tears.

He recounted the moment when Afronitaaa and Abigail proudly displayed the Ghanaian flag on the international stage, describing it as amazing.

“This beautiful lady and little girl brought the Ghana flag up on stage at Britain's Got Talent. When I watched the clip, I shed a tear. It was extremely emotional. And the way the Ghana flag was hoisted, you held it out when you were about to start... You placed it on the stage. It was amazing,” he said.

He also shared that the director of the National Theatre had sent him the clip, prompting him to acknowledge the significant impact of their performance on Ghana's image abroad.

He echoed the remarks of Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell, who hinted at a bright future for the performers, saying, "The sky is only the beginning."

“What you guys did for our country was excellent. There's no doubt at all. Like Simon Cowell said, 'the sky is only the beginning for you guys’. It was an amazing performance,” he added.
